A Little Inn By The Sea

Perfect location! Wonderful beach! Staff goes the "extra mile"! If you are looking for a quiet getaway with a gorgeous beach, excellent close restaurants, and staff that surpercedes 5 star..this is a great place. Yes, it is old,, it is probably 3 star at best...but wow for the experience! Thanks Kiki for all your help, and yes, I am still smiling!
Where else would the staff give you a dollar to get a drink out of the machine when all you have is a five???
If you have a" luxurious " vacation spot in mind...look elsewhere..wouldn't want you there anyway! Saw unhappy travelers arrive with their "lists of complaints' So sad to ruin time away like that!

My husband and I stayed at A little Inn by the sea for 2 nights while we vacationed in Fort Lauderdale. It was a very nice place to stay. It is right on the beach and the view was breathtaking. It is not a ritzy place. Rather, a comfortable, kid friendly, and relaxed atmosphere. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I will definitely will go back again, next time with my children. I highly recommend A little Inn.

My family ( 2 adults, 2 children ) stayed a Little Inn from Feb 23-Feb 27, 2011. We were pleasantly surprised by our experience. I had read scathing reviews prior to our visit , but we decided to just give it a try. The staff was extremely welcoming and our accommodations were perfect for our needs. The location is perfectly situated on the sea and close to shopping centers that will satisfy all of your needs. The pool was clean and was very appreciated by my kids. The ocean is a short walk from the pool. The unit that we stayed in had sleeping arrangements that consisted of a king bed, and pull-out couch. The pull-out was great for the kids, but perhaps uncomfortable for picky adults. The general condition of the "room" was more than acceptable by our standards. There may have been a light bulb out here or there- but these things did not affect our overall opinion of the the suite. We were not very demanding guests, and the staff furnished towels and linens immediately upon request. If you want perfection , go to the W, but if you want to try something new- go for it there. Perhaps this visit was just a matter of being at the right place at the right time- even our "neighbors" were extremely nice people. I will definitely visit again.

We are Tripadvisor devotees and our night at a Little Inn by the Sea is proof of what can happen when you just turn up somewhere without checking the site first. Not a disaster by any means, but still enough negatives for us to think we probably could have found something better for the price in the area.
Our room was in the older building and - although very clean - undeniably run down. The TV didn't work at all, the curtains weren't big enough, the sliding doors were broken and virtually impossible to open - when we did eventually manage it, we were applauded by a bunch of drunk oldies by the pool downstairs.
The breakfast, as everyone says, is pretty bad, the staff couldn't care less, and I have a feeling we were bitten by something in the room. For all those reasons it does feel overpriced.
That said, a lot of the better-rated hotels are not directly on the beach. And, the beach (especially at this quieter end of Lauderdale By The Sea) really is special. So, for that, we forgive this place a lot.

the room was filthy, with bm around the toilet. the ice maker was right outside the window, it cycled loudly every 1/2 hour 23/7. The receptionist was unhelpful and cold. The breakfast was a joke. The pool area was dirty, with cigarette butts and debris all over. the pool furniture was falling apart. the BBQ was unusable. And then the housekeeper yelled at me for not leaving a tip. UNBELIEVABLE. the only saving grace was the location.

This hotel and its siter buildings are all bad and I mean bad. They are rude when you get to check in. the room was almost filthy. It was a very noisyplace with a public bar right beside the pool which also meant the pool was public. Was there a week and could not get in the pool at all. Music and juke box played till midnight, causing the room to vibrate. We complained daily. When i said I was going to write this review, the girl at the front desk said, Do whatever you want to do. Even after room was clean, I called and supervisor came to see and yes he said it was still dirty. When you call the little inn, they will be full and will shuffle you off to these nasty siter buildings. please do not stay there. Lauderdale by the sea is the best 1 mile stretch of private beach and this place needs to be shut down.It ruins the great name of Lauderdale by the sea..We could not go to a better motel because they made us pay in cash the whole week because machine was down and they have had to many ppl run out without paying..That should have been my clue to move on..

OUR RESERVATION WAS LOST IN THE SYSTEM!!!

NEVER EVER GO THERE.

Friday the 18th of February 2011 in the late afternoon, 2 families from Denmark, each of
5 persons (with 1 child), arrives at The Little Inn By The Sea, looking forward to spend the last 3 days of our "once in a lifetime" holliday in a nice beach hotel not too far from Fort Lauderdale and Miami.
At the desk a lady looked a little confused, - "are you sure it is not "the Little Inn Too" you booked?"
Showing her the reservation and confirmations email, she asked Shirley for some help, -becaurse the reservation was not in their system. We were then told they were sorry, but THE HOTEL WAS TOTALLY BOOKED AND WE COULD NOT STAY THERE:
Explaining that we was from Denmark on a round trip in Florida, we were tired and a just a little angry, Shirley and the other lady told us that your computer system had crashed in december, and it had not been possible to reorganize all reservations. They finally offered to screen the area for similar accomodation.
But eventhough they tried, it was not possible in such short time to find a beach hotel which could accomodate 10 people in 2 rooms for 3 nights.
After 30-40 min we was told that there was no similar availability in the area, but she finally came up with 2 options. 1) The Fort Lauderdale Airport Hotel - NOT really an option when you booked a beach hotel 4 month ago, and 2) the W in Fort Laurderdale which was at the beach.
She made it perfectly clear, that she was not going to come up with any more options, if we didn't accept either one, we was free to find a hotel by our self.
She already stayed after hour to "help" us.
"Friday night and a Spring Break comming up, what a chance driving around trying to find somthing".
We then accepted the W, but had to split the familys in 3 rooms, at 3 different floors - not the end og our Florida round trip we had planned 4 month in advance.
I can't accept the explanation that our reservation was lost, I can see they have an Yahoo mail account (an external server), and are a member of a hotel group (Met Hotel group). Was it really that impossible to find our reservation in the mail system?
How come you have totally booked until march - what are your backup plans if anyone other shows up with lost reservations? - It did not look like you have an plans for this situation.
When you book you give your credit card informations so they can charge you in the case of "no show", but what about the other way around? Aren't there any roules to compensate this? If an airplane is overbooked you get compensation! Dosen't this apply for hotels to? - AND I DON'T WANT FREE NIGHTS, WE ARE FROM DENMARK AND THS WAS ONCE IN A LIFE TIME TRAVEL.
