Very reasonable rates for a challenging course. 18 good holes, some challenging some not so. some of the course is flanked by water with Sphagnum moss covered live oaks. The drought in Florida has really taken its toll on the less expensive courses and some of East Bay's greens are in poor shape and crabby. GPS on Golf Carts. Friendly staff, for the most part. Playing after noon will get you a discount. Easy online reservation system.

This course is quite challenging but enjoyable. Not too busy mid-week and friendly staff in the pro shop and bar. A very pleasant experience.

I played 5 different courses on my vacation in the area and this course was in the best shape. Seemed that the other courses were doing something to their courses in June. They were all either aerating, or sanding greens, or fertilizing, or all of the above. East Bay advised they didn't do these activities till August, so the course was very playable and a pleasant round. The layout was nice and the greens were in surprisingly good shape. I didn't get to see any gators on the course, but for the money, this course and the service was well worth the fees.

DISCLAIMER - TRUE STORY - HILARIOUS -
First I am biased since I live there. I live in the five story yellow condos right off of the 10th tee. My building is the one that constantly gets hits by errant golf balls by " golfers without borders " who think they are better than they are. They pre-swing beautifully and then hit the building.

Our building is 85 feet from the tee at a 45 degree angle and the height from ground to the roof is almost 70 feet. Each week I go on the roof and find at least five new balls. You would think they were having a shank and hook convention. Look at the figures and you try to figure out what they were thinking. The last window they broke cost a lot of money as it needed a crane to replace the window. (Florida Law over two stories)

MIGHT SOON BE THE LAST COURSE STANDING
East Bay might be one of the last places to PLAY GOLF in Largo. The city might be getting rid of its Largo Municipal course, as the city is tired of loosing money, Hopefully they will put it into private hands.

AIRCO another close by course might be gone soon too leaving very few places to play. Pinellas County moved ahead with plans to close Airco Golf Course as the County Commission voted 5-1 to prepare to shut down the course after May 15. The economy and the BP disaster did not help. Coupled with the poor business that golf courses have faced, it's unlikely that a private firm will want to step up.

FEES - Telling it like it is: I agree with the previous writer, the fees are reasonable, naturally being slightly higher during the tourist season but not outrageous. You also have the option of playing the Disney Courses and the pro courses both north and east of here for 80-100 a day. That's normal down here with any attraction. there are peak times, seasonal and obviously cost higher. But not a lot more as the average off season is 25-28 with cart and thats cheap. It also less if play after noon time.

CONDITION - The course generally is in very good shape considering we are in the worst drought in twenty years and we are under water restrictions. They do the best they can under really nasty hot weather and code enforcement.

STAFF - Really nice folks, I see them all the time. Pro shop staff and starters were friendly and helpful even though sometimes they do have to handle a few with a few too many with attitude and the few drinkers who act stupid on occasion.

The GPS was helpful for distance, not that it matters in my game. And some of the holes like the tenth dog leg left with a pond and sand traps will bring out the worst in you. Check for gators near the water, especially since the lakes are low from the drought and the early summer is matting season. In fact, one of our revetment ponds are totally dry.

East Bay Golf club in Largo is a nice pace to play with friends, enjoy the day and some of the usual critics really don't know what going on.
