“Our historical Park”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2013

When a century old house, shop or railroad station retires, it goes to Heritage Village. They pick it up and bring the structure to the park. Throughout the year they have fairs, music and events to show the way it used to be. Something for everyone in the family.

“Free admission! Relaxing stop.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2013

This complex consists of a number of buildings that were moved here from throughout Pinellas County, mostly turn-of-the-century structures including homes, church, and blacksmith shop. What's nice is that you can walk right through most of them, although some interior portions are roped off, and it gives you a feeling of what yesteryear was.

The grounds are pine-tree studded and shady, making it a pleasant spot to roam through. One of the homes has a tiny gift shop and there is a visitor center as well, connected to the adjacent gardens.

Throughout the year, special events are held and volunteers wear period costumes and offer demonstrations in using period tools, cooking, etc. This complex is about 10 minutes from Indian Rocks Beach and a nice relaxing stop.

“Disappointed”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 7, 2013

We enjoyed visiting the 2 buildings that were open, but the others were not accessible. We tried to tour the yellow house, but the docent started the tour early and would not let us in. (Although in the time it took her to interrupt her tour and explain that she had already started, she could have just let us join the tour.) This may be due to the fact that the village is staffed by volunteers who possibly have not all received the same training. Another volunteer was smoking while giving his presentation. (There are signs that indicate that no smoking is allowed.)

“Step Back In Time.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 3, 2013

This is a very special spot next to the Florida Botannical Gardens and invites you to get a feel of what life and living was like 'back in the day'. The docents are very pleasant and knowledgeable.
There are also special events held in the Village throughout the year. All this is FREE of charge!
