This is a park that begs you to be active. Popping out unexpectedly from a seemingly busy street, this park is MUCH larger than it looks. There’s a large expanse of field at the center—perfect for impromptu football tossing, ultimate Frisbee, or herding sheep (Oh wait… we don’t do that here?) The playground is the BEST! Large and filled with many moving items or things to climb; even adults will be tempted to be playful monkeys for a day. Or you can just be healthy in the “exercise playground” and walk laps around the whole park. There’s not many pavilions and grills though…
But wait—there’s more! (OMG!) A tiny railroad winds through the park and on certain days welcomes little kids to ride it while guided by a “conductor.” A community center always has performances or events going on. During the winter, the park lights up with hundreds of Christmas lights and figurines. And I recommend a game of “where’s Waldo” with the scattered bronze artwork.
While it may be confusing to drive into the one entrance to get in, you can come-as-you-are and still enjoy this park immensely. Sometimes you may need to chase off drooling teenagers who stake claims on parts of the playground, but they’re good kids. This park is also very clean, lots of parking, and has clean restrooms.
