We used this hotel as a base for visiting FL Gulf Coast beaches and Tampa/Orlando theme parks. My main complaint is that the Internet did not work properly the whole week we were there. I reported this issue to the front desk twice, but it was never resolved. We could connect to the hotel wifi just fine, but we could visit very few web pages.

There was a high school basketball tournament going on in Lakeland and the girls on the teams staying in the hotel were noisy in the hallways late into the evening hours. There was lots of going room to room, doors opening/closing/slamming and loud talking after we went to bed. We complained to the front desk and they apparently said something to the coaches because the problem seemed a bit less later in the week.

Breakfast was sub-standard compared to similar chain hotels and even other La Quintas. I was one of the first people at breakfast one morning, and the waffle makers had black residue all over them. I and another hotel guest had to clean them out before using them since there were no La Quinta personnel in sight at the time. Selection of other items was quite limited and the quality of the coffee was poor.

We could hear a lot of road noise in our room at times - sirens from the main road and I-4, loud trucks, morning garbage pickup at the dumpster, etc. Housekeeping was not thorough. The carpets weren't vacuumed well, especially less traveled areas around the bed where we noticed pieces of debris both before and after housekeeping.

The bathroom had bad wear and tear. The sink top was cracked, the bottom of the toilet bowl had cracks, and the shower/tub floor appeared cracked or poorly repaired.

The only pluses were that the HD-TV and channel selections were nice, and after my complaints I received a credit on the bill. But, that didn't outweigh the negatives. I won't stay here again.

The staff were very helpful and friendly, the room clean, comfortable, and pleasantly decorated.
However, the water tasted and smelled horrible so we couldn't drink it, the pool and whirlpool were out of order, and we could hear the people in the next room coughing and talking. I've never stayed in an adjoining room in a Laquinta before, but I would still expect it to be more sound proof. The fitness room contained a bike and treadmill, as well as a weight machine, but the machine was all but useless as some of the pulleys were missing and one was broken. A frig and micro was put in the room after we requested, and there was no additional charge for pets.

The halls and rooms had an unpleasant smell. Rooms a little dated. Have never been to a major chain hotel that didnt provide a refrigerator or micro. The breakfast was VERY minimal. No muffins, cereal just rice crispies & cornflakes...only protein was hard boiled eggs like rubber. The oatmeal had no brown sugar or raisins. The coffee I believe was instant....or at least it tasted like it. Had to go to IHOP. The staff was very friendly.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a "king" room if you want a refrigerator. Doesn't come with a qu...

We were seeking a modestly priced stay with breakfast, and we were rather disappointed in the quality for the price we paid in comparison with stays in other similarly priced hotels. The room and bathroom were very spacious and clean - no problems there. The amenities were minimal - rough, thin tissue, towels nice but rough [softener in washing and/or drying might help], no microwave [my issue as I should have checked the amenities closer as I thought it included microwave and small frig]. Breakfast was also less than hoped - three cold cereal choices were "off brand" [krispie rice, but not very flavorful, for example], bread was limited to plain bagels, white/wheat sandwich loaves, no muffins, margarine but no butter, juices tasted of cheaper brands. Hard boiled eggs were available and a waffle maker. So if those items meet your expectations, it might be okay. It is not the hotel's fault, but there is extensive construction & noise going on around the hotel, especially on the pool side. If you do not want to be awakened by various truck and construction noises, ask for a room away from pool side and higher floors.

Also, there is another LaQuinta at the next exit to the East - if you use a GPS to guide you, you will end up at the wrong hotel - it happens enough they have printed directions from the East LaQuinta to this one [the name of the street has been changed from what is printed on the confirmation information sent by the hotel unless you read the small print.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms away from pool side, and high up if possible, to avoid construction noise.

We stayed at this hotel after being on the road for 18 hours. We were greeted by a friendly front desk attendant . Our room was very clean, not a suite, but spacious. This is definitely a place I would stay again.
