Description: Real Mexican food is a feast for the senses. From colorful peppers to the sounds of sizzling fajitas all the way to that incredible flavor. Each mouthful is just as much a result of the freshest ingredients as it is a result of the chef's expertise. Abuelo's offers diners the opportunity to experience real Mexican food, combining authentic, made from scratch classic dishes with the rich, subtle flavors of coastal and interior Mexican cuisine. Our executive Chef Luis Sanchez has spent decades perfecting our menu, and we boast a wide selection of wood-grilled fajitas, enchiladas, tacos, chile rellenos or Abuelo's unique House Specialties (depending on your location). To compliment your meal, our expert bartenders are masters at crafting signature favorites, including a wide variety of margaritas and swirls.

Service is good and there is a great atmosphere, the place is almost always busy. Food is just OK ... they bring you tortilla chips and salsas as an amuse bouche (but then why would you order nachos on the menu?). Presentation, however, is awful - it looks like it is just slopped on the plate, and the salad arrived all mushed up in the bowl. A pity because it actually tastes OK, it looks terrible.

Can't believe all the negative reviews I've read. We visit Lakeland Abuelo's 3 or 4 times a year. The Carnitas Tacos, rice with lime & cilantro, and refried beans were great and certainly not out of a can. We like the fresh thin nacho chips and you can mix the 3 dipping sauces to create your own unique blend. The Tres Leches cake was to die for - superb - and free because of a birthday coupon. The tab for 2 including 2 draft Corona Lights w/lime and a 20% tip including the free cake which would have cost $5.99, was $40. We've eaten Mexican food all over the U.S. and in Mexico and Abuelo's rates near the top and is not overpriced considering what you get - quantity & quality. Would have been 5 stars had we not been led past several dozen empty tables to a table by the back wall. We will return and the new lime and cilantro rice is a winner! Hope they keep it. The reviewer who said it was equal to Taco Bell must have a budget of $10 to feed the family and refuse to tip a waitress for great service. We will return and probably more often. Great meal!

right off the bat, this isnt authentic mexican food, place looks great, but food is too.. commercialized (and expensive).. went there tonight and had enchiladas, the chicken filling was like soup and was smothered in a sauce, when i say smothered i mean you couldnt see the enchilada.. you ask why did i give it a 4 rating than?? because the manager "Laura" fixed it.. she came, recognized i wasnt happy, she asked several questions even though i said i didnt want anything else, and figured out a plate for me based on my answers.. she brought a new plate of something and it was better.. she went above and beyond, and talked to us.. and i left happy, IF i do ever come back, it will be because of Laura, she is probably the best manager we have ever came across eating out.. and we eat out a lot.. food 1 star, manager service-4 star

The food at Abuelo's is very good and the place and decoration is impressive. If someone is looking for really good mexican food and a great athmosphere and is willing to pay a little bet more than most other mexican Restaurants in the area, then it is a very good choice. The food is very good and some of the better Mexican food in the area but the prices are higher. However, the athmosphere, high ceiling an decoration are the best. If you are only concerned about the food, there are cheaper altermatives with the same quality of food but if you want the whole package, good food and athmosphere and don't care if you have to spend a few bucks more, Abuelos is for you. Other than the prices, I have nothing negative to say.. Service was very good as was the food.

Beginning with the chips and salsa to the wide variety of offerings big and small on the menu and great margaritas, and a great lunch menu as well. Ambiance is a little "kitchy" but we are near DIsney World. Abuelos is one of the best around. I would rank it right there with The Columbia as far as quality and value of the food.
