I live fairly close to Bok Tower, only about a 30 minute drive away, so it's a nice little getaway for me on a free afternoon. It's always very serene and peaceful, and very beautiful. I enjoy taking my camera for the afternoon and getting tons of pictures. There are always beautiful flowers blooming. I do try to go on cooler days, as it can be very hot in summer. Getting to the tower from the visitor center is a bit of an uphill walk! The squirrels, which are plentiful at Bok, seem almost tame. They will approach you and eat from your hand, though they don't recommend you feed them. Twice while I was taking photos I had a squirrel run up my leg, stop at about waist level, then run back down after he determined I didn't have any food. All in all, it's a quiet, peaceful place to spend an afternoon and a great place for photos if you're a photographer.

It was a beautiful day and the gardens were blooming. We also toured the house on the estate which was well worth it. Lots of uphill walking but great exercise! The carillon from the tower added to our enjoyment.

Wasn't quite sure what to expect, $12 to get in, was very peaceful and was lots to wander round and see.
Disappointed not to see an armadillo, but was a lovely afternoon.

We were not sure what to expect from these gardens but were pleasantly surprised.
It cost $12 to get in but was worth it. We loved sitting in the watch out by the lake and just watching the birds come and go. We have some great photos of herons, ducks, squirrels and smaller birds like red cardinals. There was a concert in the tower at 3pm that you could hear wherever you were in the garden - it makes it nice walking through the beautiful gardens while listening to the music. We could not go into the tower which was a shame as I would have loved to have seen the view from the top. We were there approx 2 hours and didn't even go into the exhibits or to the pinewood estate. Would definitely recommend these gardens for a quiet, beautiful afternoon away from the madness of the Orlando attractions - well worth the drive out.

It was interesting for me to see how well Bok Tower Gardens has recovered from the hurricane damage suffered some years ago. It appears to have been a complete recovery.
We arrived at the Tower just before the 3pm carillon concert and it began as we started up the paved pathway to the tower itself. Along the way there is a seating area with a video screen so that strollers can rest while watching the carillon player do his thing with the massive bells in the nearby belfry. The entire garden complex - with its tall tower, extravagant gardens, relaxing seating areas all along the paths, the sculptures, pavilions and large overhanging live oak trees - is a unique experience.
We especially enjoyed a mid-hike rest in the cozy wooden enclosure with a large glass window overlooking a small pond and its denizens.
All in all it was a delightful afternoon.... Except for just a bit of silliness at the end of the day: As part of the voucher we obtained for entrance we received a coupon for "$5.00 credit in the café." We had developed a thirst and decided to visit the café for a soft drink and use the coupon. The drinks totaled only $4.50 and the young lady cashier advised us that we needed to spend at least $5.00 in order to apply the coupon. I suggested that that was silly, and that the coupon had no such caveat on it, but she said that that was her "boss's orders" and she could not override it. Not wishing to tax her independence, I just bought a 50 cent cookie and then had to pay 30 cents tax to satisfy the silliness. It certainly didn't ruin our wonderful afternoon, but it was just plain silly.
Visit Bok Tower Gardens if ever you get the chance.
