It's not that far from Disney if you have a rental car. Beautiful, tranquil and serene gardens away from the madness from of Disney. Loose yourself in nature! watch out for the mosquitos.

Escape from the hustle of the world to a tranquil oasis, enjoy the beautiful pink/blue/cream tower and its carillon, beautiful grounds, good cafe, gift shop and plant shop. "I come here to find myself it's so easy to get lost in this world".

This is a place I've wanted to visit since coming to Florida. A friend called me up and asked if i was up for the trip. I jumped at the chance and was so pleased i did. The grounds are amazing and the staff so very knowledgeable. I love history and Bok definitelyl left his mark with the grounds. The mansion on the grounds (not owned by Bok) is a step back into an era of pure opulance! One thing we noticed that every room was built acoustically sound and the house was made to entertain in the winter months of Florida. If you love nature and stepping back into time this is a great place to visit. I don't advise taking children younger than 8-10 years old.

Florida’s ‘Central Park’ is a woodland gardens designed by landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted Jr., who also designed gardens at Biltmore House and Gardens in Asheville, NC, and New York City’s famed park framed by skyscrapers. The brainchild of Pulitzer Prize-winning author Edward Bok, constructed the 205-foot Neo Gothic Art Deco tower on an island on top of the highest peak in peninsular Florida in 1929. The skyscraper is a carillon with 60 bells that chime familiar tunes each half hour, but it’s the lush gardens that attract countless visitors each year. Window By The Pond is a hut with a Plexiglas wall to allow visitors a view of nature without disturbing mallards, squirrels and birds. Paths meander through gardens, and signs identify the fauna. For an extra $6, visit the 1930s Mediterranean Revival Pinewood Estate. If the budget is limited, simply enjoy the gardens surrounding Pinewood at no additional cost. Parking is free, and you can bring bottled water and lunch. Picnic tables are available, or enjoy sandwiches at Blue Palmetto Café for a reasonable cost. Cultivate an interest in these woodland gardens.

The most memorable thing that inspired me was the serenity. Hundreds of people milling about talk in hushed tones, if at all. What a refreshing change from other Central Florida ear-busting attractions. Planes don’t pass overhead, and there are no cars disturbing the peace.
