“Beautiful Sanctuary”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 16, 2012

I've been wanting to visit Bok Tower forever, and I am so glad I finally got the chance. The orange blossoms were in full bloom, and the smell was completely intoxicating as it filled the air throughout the gardens. You could take a guided tour through part of the gardens if you want, but my friend and I just wandered around by ourselves. The gardens aren't as manicured as some that I've been to, but it's quasi-wildness is part of its charm. The carillon is beautiful. The little museum inside is informative and interesting. Music plays from the tower every hour or so, and you can hear it from quite a ways away. The food they offer is good but a little pricey. It'd be great to bring a picnic and a blanket here. Make sure to bring your camera! Bok is gem in the middle of the state.

“If you want to torture your kids......”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 14, 2012

Bok Tower is a great place....but not really kid friendly. The staff try to keep the interest of kids, but it is really for the over 40 set. Lots of gardens, birds, and the Tower plays the music every hour. Bring picnic and enjoy the vast lawns. There is also a diner in the visitor centre, which has really reasonable prices for lunch. You can tour the home of the founder, watch a video, or tour the visitor centre. You will be able to spend a god 2 or 3 hours there. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of Disney, this is a perfect
way to do it.

Grounds are quite nice with easy walking paths. A little oasis in the middle of FL.

“A pleasureful experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 10, 2012

We so enjoyed our morning spent at Bok Tower Gardens. The whole experience was a very positive one. Friendly staff, well laid out routes for walking the property and wonderful gardens.

The tower itself was very beautiful and the carillon sounds so nice. The meandering trails led us through the gardens and was very peaceful and relaxing. We loved the smells of the many plants. The "Window by the Pond" was cool, a rustic low building with glassed-in front over looks a pond. You can watch birds and other animals going about their business without disturbing them.

We also toured the grounds of the Pinewood Estate which is attached to the Gardens. This was quite lovely as well.

Overall well worth a visit.

“Taking time to enjoy the view”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 7, 2012

Touring Bok Tower Gardens & Pinewood Estate is a pleasant way to spend a few hours or the better part of the day, if you wish. I was surprised by the size expecting it be bigger with more walking required and I am in average shape with no physical problems. My 64 yr old mom found the inclines a little challenging as she has knee and hip discomfort but she was able to rest easily. I wouldn't recommend bringing small children. The experience is more of a walk in the woods than a visit to a flower garden. There are some lovely potted plants and flowers near the entrance to the garden but on the grounds you will find few flowers. There are many trees, shrubs, grasses, and meandering mulched pathways to explore. To me, the highlights include the tower, pond area, the estate visit, and the tranquility of the entire experience. The grounds do have some inclines and the paths are lined with rather chunky mulch so good shoes are a must. There are many benches throughout with plenty of places to rest. We brought sandwiches and had a picnic on a bench - very relaxing and inexpensive! The tower is impressive and beautiful with lovely live carillon music emanating from it daily. You cannot go inside the tower, but there is an outdoor TV screen showing the carillonneur during the performances. It is on the west side of the tower and there is seating. Mr. Bok is burried at the base of the tower and there is a moat with huge koi surrounding it. The Pinewood Estate tour costs a few dollars more (March 3-11 the upstairs is closed as visiting carrillonneurs are staying in the bedrooms so the rate is reduced) and is worth it to add variety to your visit. There are many tall trees draped with Spanish moss and tall swaying bamboo which create a romantic/eerie atmosphere. Lots of photo ops. Plenty of fresh air. A great place to relax and soak in the view.
