We love staying at the Maingate Lakeside Resort when we are in Orlando. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The front desk staff is always amazing. Christine at the front desk is super awesome. She is very helpful and has the best personality. She is always willing to help us with anything and does it with a smile. The resort is a hidden gem.

My family and I have stayed at Maingate Lakeside several times over the past 8 years. It's always been clean and the location is great. This time, they tried to charge us more at check in (luckily I had the email with the total from booking direct through their website). Then we had to clean the bathroom upon check in, the next morning we woke up to bugs flying all over the room so they moved us to a different room only for us to discover that the phone and one lamp did not work. They always acted like we were putting them out asking for extra towels, even when we had to use our bath towels at the pool because the pool towels were gone. The beds were rock hard and sagging in the middle so sleep was extremely uncomfortable. We were told they would remove the charge for one night due to all of our difficulties, but they refused to do so at check out and would only remove a couple of the "resort fees." This morning when I checked my credit card statement, the pending transaction is for the incorrect amount (the higher amount they tried to give me at check in, not even what I booked through their website, and certainly not the amount we were told at check out). This was always our go-to place to stay when we chose not to stay on Disney property, but this was our last visit for sure.

Thank you for be a returning guest over the years and please accept our apologize for your recent visit. We are sorry the two rooms you were assigned had issues and our staff should have handled the problems better. As for the money issue I am not sure if you were able to speak to a manager to have your bill reduced and also to make aware of room condition. As being a returning guest you should know this is not a normal way of treatment of guests and we are sad to hear of your stay. We will look into the situation and make appropriate improvements.

Check in was a little slow. Only had two people working the front desk. The gal was great, the gentlemen working the desk not so much! Hotel is somewhat in need of some TLC but you know you get what you pay for! Rooms seemed to be clean. The pool area was actually very nice. If we weren't at the parks we we're down at the pool. Tiki bar was fun.The location is really nice. Lots of restaurants and shops within walking distance.

This hotel is far below sub-par. The front desk clerk seemed annoyed that people had come in. The door locks are flimsy and could be pushed open. The product falls far short of what their website leads you to hope for.

I Booked it through Hotel tonight, which said the resort fee would be $11. The front desk person upon arrival said the fees were over $18, making the price nearly $70. There are far better rooms available for $70 in Orlando.

Skip this hotel.

We are sorry to hear you were not happy with your stay. Our goal is to see that our guests are satisfied and it appears we fell short, for that we apologize and will work harder. As for all of our reservations there is a resort fee and sometimes a service fee depending on booking company.

If you're not too picky and are just looking for a nice clean hotel to stay a couple of nights, this hotel is for you. If you are very picky and think all hotels should have the latest upgrades and finest comforters, this hotel is NOT for you. Yes, this hotel is old. Yes, the carpet needs to be taken out. Yes, there may be some old cigarette stains on the tub. Yes, the tv is not directly in line with the center of your bad. Yes, the rooms need new paint. Yes, the air conditioner is loud. However, I stayed two nights and survived without any incidents. The breakfast buffet was very nice (for a SMALL fee) and had all the essential breakfast options I needed. I would like to say I think it should include a drink. All in all, a pleasant stay..

Room tip: There are no elevators.
