This was our second stay at Silver Lake Resort, both stays were a positive experience.

We booked a 2BR unit through an online broker. We received a Two-bedroom lock-off villas feature 1005-1225 sq. ft. of living area, a king-sized bed in the master bedroom, a queen-sized sofa sleeper in the great room, two full baths, three televisions with cable hook-up and HBO, a full kitchen and a partial kitchen in the lock-off portion. This combination was very spacious for the 6 in our party, see the linked photos of the unit 9110G/H.

There were lots of amenities on the premises, we didn't use any of them on this trip because we were busy at theme parks, but they are comprehensive.

The only issue we had this time was a defective card reader on the door which didn't want to accept the card sometimes. It was repaired by staff.

I actually stayed at this resort in August of 2004 however this site doesn't allow me to go back further than 2006. The resort was ok, didn't have much to offer other than the normal amenities (pool, game room, etc.). The room was average too but nice. All in all I would recommend it. However, if you are in Orlando to experience disney then this resort is quite a distance from the attractions.

We just returned from a terrific week at Silver Lake -- our first stay there. The "we" are my early-20's daughters and their fiances, as well as moi (mom). We were on the fourth floor of building 1700, right by the main pool, game room, fitness room and computer room (4 PC's, all can print). We had a *huge* 1400 SF 2BR/2BA with a comfortable queen sofa sleeper I could open and close easily. The unit was stocked with "starters" of laundry detergent, dishwasher detergent, coffee, etc., a nice convenience. Both bedrooms had screened porches. The larger bedroom had a jacuzzi. The smaller one was part of a "lock-off" and had its own microwave, small refrigerator, kitchen sink, and dishes. There were small flat screen TV's in the bedrooms and a very large one in the living room. Since we were there a whole week, having a washer and dryer in the unit was very convenient.
I was favorably impressed with the list of daily activities, including poolside music and ice cream sundaes, and a weekly casino cruise. The teens on premises (and the young men accompanying me) seemed to really enjoy the game room. One of the young men worked out every day in the spacious fitness facility. I loved having the computers available for daily e-mail. An in-room Internet service package is available.
Additional towels were available immediately upon request and a free towel exchange was offered on Wednesday. Pool towels were free and could be easily exchanged at the pool office. There were plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas pool side. The poolside snack shop had tasty and reasonable food (only ate there once, though) and a Happy Hour. I was told there is a children's pool and that one pool is heated, but I didn't check them out. I did see a tot lot with a climbing apparatus and a slide.
All of the employees I dealt with were friendly. Two problems (needing more dishes and a leak from the air conditioner into a closet) were dealt with quickly. I attended a timeshare purchase presentation but did not feel too pressured.
Silver Lake's "back exit" abuts Animal Kingdom [we saw the "auditions" sign] and drops you on the Disney portion of Oceola Parkway in two minutes. Both entrances are gated and staffed. This location is just generally so convenient. In addition to being in Disney's backyard, it's a mile from Publix, 7-8 minutes from a SuperWalmart and 3-4 minutes from I-4, which takes you up to International Drive in 5-15 minutes, depending on which part you need. West [of I-4] SR 192 (W. Irlo Bronson Hwy), one minute from Silver Lake, has a slew of restaurants, both inexpensive and nicer ones, gift shops, a FunSpot (bungee jumping, etc.), and miniature golf, so we found plenty to do for variety.
I would choose this Orlando resort over others for location, facilities, and service. Price, of course, varies on your particular deal. Ours was very reasonable, especially since we had five people all together.
Susan, R.N.

This was our second stay at the resort. It does everything right, the service is great, but the rooms were not our style. The rooms feature tile, mirrors and lots of glass tables. My sons like to sit on the floors and play and tiled floors are too cold for this, they hated it. My in-laws are slightly hard of hearing and thought the rooms echoed too much. The hot water was WAY too hot, if anyone touched the water or flushed the toilet while someone was in the shower they could be burned. So having two bathrooms was useless, we constantly had to warn everyone not to touch the water before we took a shower. This is a big worry with small children around. The resort is very well staffed and is well run. The pools were nice but boring, just standard pools. We liked the rooms and pools at Calypso Cay better but Calypso Cay's service doesn't come close to Silver Lakes. I bet this is a great resort for older couples.

This resort was a lovely place to stay, friendly staff, great pools, lovely gardens well kept, felt safe everywhere. We had our own car and GPS so tavelling was easy although we did manage to get lost on the odd occasion.Only 1 thing I found that hopefully overtime could be rectified, glass dining and small tables are a constant worry with small children
