Some staff was fantastic. Most were completely clueless. Gave wrong info, appointments weren't kept, prices and times were given wrong. Kids activities way overpriced. Nightly music in outdoor bar SO loud we had trouble sleeping -- all the way on the other side of the resort! Cockroaches, filthy carpeting in rooms, dirty couches, mold and mildew on shower tiles and door, parts of jacuzzi tub were broken....I have very low standards compared to most people I've seen writing here, but this was so bad I will never return...

Arrived from England for a first time visit and stayed here at the end of August on a last minute timeshare exchange, My first experience was speaking by phone with Veronica in the Owners Services Center, an extremely pleasent and helpful young lady who patiently listened to my list of apartment preferences and promised to try and accomodate all of my requests, which she did admirably.
Upon arrival, check in at reception was straight forward with no waiting and I found all of the staff to be extremely kind and helpful, in particular, a young lady named Zwinda who spent a little time with me explaining how things worked and giving directions to my designated apartment block
The extremely clean and spacious apartment was fabulous with just about everything that you could want from quality crockery and cutlery, a large kitchen area, even a welcome starter pack of coffee, sugar, creamer, cookies etc, large screen T V's and DVD player. The king bed extremely comfortable and a super large jacuzzi to relax in or a walk in shower if you preferred. The balcony was great for breakfast with views of a family of ducks patrolling the river, lots of trees and greenery and you could also see the fireworks display at night time from Old Town. This has to be problaby the quietest and peaceful apartment that I have ever stayed in......the air conditioning was really quiet
The facilities at Star Island were good, the usual fitness center and pools, a pay to use computer was available and fax sevices should you need them. Location good and easy to get to most places, theme parks etc.
My only criticism was the 18% service charge in the delicatessen and bar which made it expensive to shop and drink there. However, Wal Mart is only minutes away and of course you can buy most things there.
I would stay here again and currently am deciding if I should go back next year, there is a lot to see in Florida and Star Island is an ideal location.

Room Tip: If you are looking for some peace and quiet, I was in Block 20 and found it truly excellent.

When got there the front desk acted stated that we did not have a reservation. We showed them our confirmation # and info through email & they woman stated that they had NO record of our reservations & proceeded to ask for our card number. Advising us that we would only be charged through "Trip Advisory" & they just needed the card for the HOLDING FEE of $200. Needless to say when we checked out we asked for a receipt & the front desk REFUSED to give us one. (We wanted to see a break down of ALL OUR CHARGES) We ended up being charged TWICE for our room! One charge through "TRIP ADVISOR" & the other charge through "STAR ISLAND" BIG DISASTER!!!!!!!! Still have not gotten any money back and cannot get ahold of anyone regarding this matter

Good Afternoon MrsYaune D,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We do put a hold on your account for $200.00 because we are cash-less. We only take out of the $200.00 deposit, the charges that are charged to your room. I would be happy to get you a breakdown of your charges, please call me directly.

Thank you again,

We've been here quite a few times now and it rarely disappoints. The location is excellent for Disney and various restaurants. The resort itself is a beautiful place and, as always, we had gorgeous apartments with big beds, spa baths, balconies, etc. just a couple of minor complaints though - the main pool was closed on 4 separate days during the week we stayed for 'maintenance' according to reception (although when we mentioned it on 2 of the days, it was immediately re-opened and there was no signs of work being done on any of the days); one of our apartments had damp carpets (maintenance brought 2 large fans to try to dry them out but they were loud and in the way); the almost nightly karaoke was rather annoying as it went on late and was very loud. That said, we loved our stay, especially the poolside cocktails, the fact that TGI Fridays is in walking distance and the kids pool. Also we could watch the ducks and turtles in the lake from our balcony which was delightful.

Greetings from Star Island Resort,

Thank you Lawyer13 for taking the time to write a review. We are happy to hear that Star Island is your home away from home. We apologize the rock pool had some maintenance that needed to be taken care of during the week you were here.

Again, thank you for taking the time to write a review.

My husband and I recently stayed at the star island resort. It was an experience that we truly enjoyed. We ended up staying on the B side which is the side with a Jacuzzi at least that's what we were told. The ladies at the reception desk were nice. Aftet check in we were greeted by a gentleman who offered us a chance to do time share. We didn't really have a need to go on the tour but he told us that we would get $150 gift card if we went. The experience with the wyndham timeshare, is a different experience all together so I will stick with the hotel. The pool was nice and had plenty of activities to do during the day plus a happy hour which they give you coupons for. One thing to remember is that they don't take cash they allow you to purchase Star bucks but then they give you a coupon for 10 extra when you purchase 40. The only reason why we ended up giving the resort at 4 instead of a 5 is because the internet is extremely slow. We tried to use the hot air wifi for our phones but it never worked and then when it came time for us to check in for our flight we weren't able to print up anything because the internet kept freezing. However the young ladies at the reception desk were willing to work with us and they helped us with our issue. Overall the experience was great and if Wyndum has not taken over by our next vacation we will do go back.
