Good points:

Reception staff very friendly and helpful.
Very comfy bed! Clean rooms, bathroom was good with excellent shower.
Shop inside hotel which sells all sorts of basics that you'd need.
Pizza Hut inside hotel. Heated Swimming pool and jacuzzi looks good but didn't use.
Great location with easy access to Disney, Universal Studios, Premium Outlet Malls if you have a car.
Lots of food outlets across the street i.e Pizza Hut, KFC, McDonald's, other restaurants.
Free parking and good speed wifi.

Bad points:

The Guest Services reception which is opposite check in reception will help you to buy tickets for any excursions like Disney, universal etc. They offered us a pretty good deal, IF we visited their 'Orange Lake Resorts' Holiday Inn resort. They said we'd just be checking it out and we'd get to see Animal Kingdom from afar. Apparently it would only take an hour. Then we'd get our tickets for universal/disney etc.

So we went in the morning, got shown the resort on a golf buggy, saw the fence and lots of trees where animal kingdom is, and watched a presentation. Then our host proceeded to try and sell us a TIME SHARE on that resort. We were never told that at the hotel that this would be a sales pitch meeting. What an utter waste of 3 hours. We told the woman we weren't interested at all, she didn't listen and carried on hard selling. She then got her manager who tried to sell us a refurbished TIME SHARE at a low cost, I said no still not interested and he tried again, 3 times. Finally we left and had a questionnaire from one last person.

He asked how I rated the whole thing and I said 1/10. He couldn't believe that I rated it a 1 and kept asking why why why. Finally we were released from this torture, got our tickets, which guest services at the hotel entered incorrectly in the system and the system said we owed $100. That finally got sorted and we left.

Was the discount for disney tickets good enough for the torture of them trying to hard sell me a $40,000+ TIME SHARE - NO.....!

So Travellers beware if you're staying at this hotel that if they want you to check out Orange Lake Resorts for discount tickets to excursions, don't bother, infact run for your life and don't look back. Because it doesn't matter what Holiday Inn call it during the presentation, the fact of the matter is, it's a TIME SHARE and they will try and hard sell you this and sign on the dotted line. I think it's unfair and totally out of order. We literally just got to Orlando and we didn't need this to be the first thing we experienced.

Apart from that, the hotel is great, staff are great and to be honest yes I would stay again. However due to the TIME SHARE sales pitch and because I was not told that's what it would be at the guest services, it gets a 4. Had I known it would be TIME SHARE sales pitch, I would not have used the guest services.

Our room was fine. Fairly clean, we did not spend much time in our room, as we were out at the local theme parks. I was disappointed with the knowledge of the staff there. Every time I called the front desk they didn't seem to have an answer. For a hotel, we found them to be very unaccommodating. First of all they provide a free shuttle to 2 parks. The rest of the parks you have to pay 15$ per person. The worst part about that is, the hotel across the street Celebration Suits (who actually uses the exact same shuttle to pick up their guests as well) does in fact include the shuttle fee for their guests. So we had to pay and they walked on for free. Holiday inn should research what their competitors are doing. Next time we will be staying with Celebration. Also, they did not have a shuttle to go to the airport, fine. However, when we inquired about options to get to the airport, they gave us a taxi cab number which would have cost us $75.00. We ended up having to do our own research and found a shuttle for $40.00. Holiday Inn should be on top of this information and be able to provide their customers with the best information possible. I was aware of the resort fee when I booked the hotel, however once we stayed there we weren't sure what it was even for. This hotel was average and did not include anything different from any other hotel (pool & a gym). When traveling and staying at a hotel, at the very least I would expect for the hotel to be much more knowledgeable and helpful. It made our trip a hassle trying to research and figure out everything in the area ourselves.

We would like to thank you for reviewing our property. We are sorry to hear that we did not exceed your expectations during your recent stay with us. Our hotel does offer free shuttles to the Disney Parks because we are a Disney good neighbor hotel, however any additional shuttle services are available at a minimal cost to the guest. We are also sorry that the level of service we provided you was not on point. We strive and take pride in giving outstanding service to all of our guests. We will use your feedback to help improve the overall experience for all of our guests and we hope that in the future you will give us another chance to exceed your expectations.

Approximately 50 of our employees were based at the Holiday Inn Main Gate East for nearly a week while attending a convention. We held one day of meetings onsite at the HI-MGE. The staff was amazing! Every request I had was taken care of promptly and with a smile. The catered meals were tasty and reasonably priced. Our server in the lounge, Marta, took wonderful care of all 50 of us with a smile. My room was very comfortable and the bed was great. I would recommend this hotel to anyone planning a business function in the area.

We spent 5 nights here in November.
Bed was wonderfully comfortable, bathroom very clean and hotel staff helpful.
Unfortunately the pool is in the shade most of the day though the whirlpool was very warm.
Breakfast was ok, not fantastic but adequate.
There was a very loud extractor fan?Generator? which meant that leaving the balcony window open was not relaxing even though the sun was shining during the day and at night we would have preferred to leave A/c off with the window open as it was really cool.
Overall a good base for seeing attractions around Orlando.

Room tip: I think a room at the back would be quieter than looking towards the pool and higher up may be quieter too.
