I cannot say enough good things about this resort. We stayed here for 4 days at the end of April. We had a fantastic time. The property is beautiful. We were accidentally upgraded to a 4 bedroom 3 bath suite. It was huge! Obviously I was concerned that they were going to charge me more. However, they did not. They honored my original booking price but bumped us up into a double the size suite. We did not take advantage of the cleaning service. I noticed other reviews complaining about it. Unfortunately, I cannot speak from experience. The pool is huge and clean. The zero depth is awesome for young children. I would highly recommended this resort. We will definately look to come back.

We spent 4 nights in a 2BR at the Lighthouse Key Resort and loved it. The appartment was fabulous and very spacious for the 4of us. We were lovely welcomed by the reception staff and I just want to thank Mrs Kara Torres again for her assistance before and during our stay. Got 2 phonecalls regarding Timeshare but after telling we're not interested were never bothered again.
Houskeeping did a great job at our appartment. Every day they replenish coffee, towels and even did our dishes! Our jacuzzi didn't work and 1 lamp was broken. They fixed in immediately!
This is a wonderfull place, nice swimming pool and at a great location. A short drive to the parks and at a more quiet location. If we should visit this area again I wouldn't hesitate to stay at this propertie again. Though I should check first to discover if there are any building activities b/c they plan to build a lot more towers at the Lighthouse Key.

We stayed here for 1 week and wished we had longer. This is a lovely resort. We had a 3 bed 3 bath and the suite was huge. It is very well laid out with master bedrooms on opposite side of each other. It was nice to have lovely carpeted floor. The bathrooms are beautiful and the beds very comfortable. We asked for more towels and they were brought up straight away. The pool area is smaller than it looked on the pictures but there are plenty of comfy loungers and towels to help yourself to.
We did get a few phone calls about the "breakfast" but we just refused and she got the message after that. I wish we had used the facilities more but with so much else to do its difficult.
We could see the fire works from disney from our balcony which was great to see. We had a lovely view overlooking the lake.
I would definitely stay here again and you get 15% discount from the hotel itself for your next stay, will be checking that out for next time.

Booked a room at this hotel based on great reviews on Trip Advisor. When we arrived, they could not find our reservation. Although I had the printed copy of the reservation, which they acknowledged was from their website, they were very reluctant to give us a room. No apology was ever given, although the young man stated that he "wouldn't put us out on the street" but would get us a room for the night, but there was no guarantee of a room for the rest of our stay. How kind. The moment we walked in the "concierge" (aka "real estate agent") kept engaging our kids in conversation and tried to reel us in while we were attempting to get our reservation straightened out. Needless to say, we weren't in the mood for the sales pitch. We recieved 3 separate phone calls asking us to come to their breakfast (sales pitch) even though we had told them the first time we weren't interested. The rooms are beautiful but poorly stocked--lightbulb in shower was out and never replaced although we left a note asking for it to be. No replenishing of coffee, dishsoap when out. Computers not working in business office. Overall, a beautiful facility but we'd never go back.

Initially, the rooms were very nice and large enough for our family of four, with two boys aged 7 and 10 respectively.

We'd previously stayed at the Disney Beach Club Resort and although we had a great time there we were pleasantly surprised by the size of the Lighthouse Key Resort room compared to the Disney resort. And in fact, on arrival we were seriously considering a timeshare option. We are not any more.

First, and simply, every guest should receive a list of the local restaurants (NOT just the ones the have coupons for to give you a free appetizer) on arrival. The existing list is a scam and the concierge uses this list to get freebies for themselves rather than giving good suggestions to the guests.

The best restaurant that we found during our trip was the greek restaurant "Opa", in downtown Orlando.

TIP AHEAD:

The other issue is that the drive to DisneyWorld, although advertised as "only 3 miles", can take over 30-40 minutes in morning traffic. The resort should (but doesn't currently) provide a map to the back route into Disney World (which easily saves 20-30 minutes). If you take the route 192 all the way to the Disney exits, you will end up in traffic and about 10-12 traffic lights the entire way.

*Instead* take route 192 (also called W Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway) westbound to Black Lake Road (the 4th or 5th traffic light). Then, turn left at the stop sign and travel about 2 miles. You'll likely see a lot of "in the know" cars follow you. Once you've turned left and passed the casting center, you will end up at Animal Kingdom, and see signs to all of the resorts, in about 5 minutes.

As to the Lighthouse Key Resort, we were impressed initially at the size of the rooms and were excited about the prospective stay after reading about the huge pool (it's actually rather small), the poolside bar (which can't serve hard alcohol), and the theater (which runs shows inconsistently).

Upon using the room facilities, I was surprised at the poor quality of the shower floor (it's plastic) in the master bedroom area after the hotel spent so much time and money laying down tile in the bathrooms.

That said, the condition of our room was dirty on arrival (room 1-202) ... and this was consistent throughout our stay. On arrival, you can see the issues by walking into the kitchen and just checking out the dirt and film on top of the refrigerator (as well as the other areas). Our belief is that the current cleaning staff is doing superficial work and not really spending the time to do a quality job.

Further, during our stay, the housekeeping service failed to keep the room clean:

1) Day 1 - We received 4 towels in the room (enough to service our family of 4) and requested 2 more. In the meantime, the housekeepers applied too much soap to the dishwasher, causing it to overflow all over the kitchen floor. We used guest towels to mop up and had to ask for more. We received 4 more after repeatedly calling the front desk 3 times over two hours.
2) Day 2 - All of the additional guest towels that we received on day 1 were removed, and coffee maker supplies (coffee, liquid creamers and sugar) were not replenished. Still problems with cleanliness - very light cleaning of the rooms, and the dishes weren't cleaned nor the counters wiped down.
3) Day 3 - after complaining about the coffee and creamers, we received 10 packets of hardened, unusable creamer for making coffee in the morning. We returned from DisneyWorld at around 4:30 to rest up for our evening trip to watch the fireworks, and unfortunately the room was still unserviced. The cleaners finally came after we came back from the pool at 5:30pm in the afternoon. We went out and bought cream at this point.
4) Day 4 - Came back to our room after cleaning and the room was essentially unserviced, with both the table in the living room as well as the kitchen counters were not wiped down, with food crumbs left all over the counters.

We tipped the housekeeping on day 1 and 2 and stopped because of their poor service following that.

Although a good sized room, based on the cleanliness issues, we do not expect to return to Lighthouse Key Resort. Next time we will spend the $50-100 more/night and stay back on a Disney property with all of the benefits that we get there.

This was a wonderful hotel. We stayed here March 30-April 4, 2008. When we checked in our room wasn't ready so they upgraded us to a 4 bedroom for a 3 bedroom price. The staff was so nice and helpful. The business computers weren't available so the staff allowed us to check email on their computer. The pool was clean and towels always available. The rooms were very spacious and nice. Loved the tub!!! Also very quiet, especially for spring break. Will definetly go back.

Had a lovely stay at the resort, very large, spacious well equipped condo type suites. We booked a 4 bedroom apt, and it fit 9 people very comfortably. Housekeeping does seem to have some issues as we never had enough towels, even if we requested them. Easy enough to walk over to the pool to pick some up, but still....Dishwasher and laundry in the suite was a bonus, not having even salt in the salt shaker was not. The kitchens are completely devoid of any food substances. Who empties a salt shaker?!?! No dishwasher detergent, scrubbie, etc, so stock up at the grocery store about 1/2 mile away. Apart from the strange sterilization of the kitchen, a really nice stay. They are also trying to sell these as time shares, hence the hard sell... Just a morning of your time for discounted Disney tickets, they don't call these sessions pressure cookers for nuthin! Have a nice stay, run away from the "information sessions ".
