We've eaten three or four times at one or other of the Olive Garden Restaurants and have always come away having enjoyed the experience (apart from once when we had an obnoxious, gobby child sitting behind us,......we moved tables and the ambiance returned to normal).
Haute cuisine it may not be but it is always reliable, well cooked and tasty . The service is always prompt and pleasant. A good value place to eat with a nice house red.

Yes the rating is a 1!
Considering that we were a group of 11, the 35 minute wait to get a table was acceptable (and it was 6 pm). We tried to make a reservation, but they would not accept one.
We were assigned two waiters, which we believed would come with excellent service. One waiter was far too concerned with being overly-friendly to stay on top of things.
We waited over an hour and a half to get our food and the first reason given to us was that the salmon was not quite finished cooking! (compared to pasta dishes, chicken and mixed grill!)
We had to ask twice if the kids meals could be brought out quickly (at 8 pm it seemed reasonable to get their meals first), then one of those dishes was not correct and the waiter didn't seem to know that they even had Mac & cheese on the menu!
Slowly but surely dishes were brought out and the last two served were COLD! Another dish had barely cooked, cold asperagus and the famous salmon was over-cooked.
Eventually a manager came to see us, apologizing for the fact that some of our dishes had been accidently taken to another table. He offered us free dessert but considering the time (close to 9 pm) we pushed to have one meal free per bill (two bills had been asked for). He accepted this, but our waiters were never informed and they kept trying to push free desserts on us, while apologizing. When we were finally done it seemed that the computer was not working to print our bills - however we saw other tables in our section getting their bills easily. We waited another 15 to 20 minutes to get the bills!
They did the right thing a took off two adult meals per bill, but the 3-hour long experience was enough to turn us off completely! Don't bother with this Olive Garden, especially if you are at a normal meal time and with a group.

Having enjoyed many meals at Red Lobster we thought we'd try Darden's Olive Garden. When we arrived it was busy and we were given an estimate of a 20 minute wait but no sooner had we ordered drinks at the bar, the table was available.

First courses were great with really good soups and salads but after that it started to go wrong.

After an inordinate amount of time our main courses arrived. Two of them were clearly overcooked, the Mixed Grill and the Salmon. By this time we were starving but our daughter sent the salmon back,. It was bone dry and the tuscan fries were equally uninviting. My mixed grill had also clearly spent a long time under a hot lamp with congealed sauce, dried up chicken and burnt vegetables but I persevered, The spicy shrimp dish should have had a spicy side sauce but the server insisted it didn't. Only my wife's lasagne was properly cooked if a little on the small side.

We had completely finished our entrees before the replacement salmon arrived. How long does it take to grill a piece of salmon? Our daughter then had to eat her entree whilst we waited for her.

To make matters even worse, a young guest at another table threw up in both the aisle and the ladies toilets and the servers seemed in no great hurry to clear it up.

The icing on the cake was when our server then handed us the wrong bill. We eventlually got the correct bill but nothing had been deducted for the poor food or the inconvenience.

We left feeling very disappointed and doubt very much if we will visit Olive Garden again.
