“Fantastic Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2010

We stayed at this resort from 16th October thru 30th October and had a wondeful time.

Apartment - Having read a number of reviews from people that were there the same time as us I'm sorry to hear they had problems with bugs etc as we had no such issues.
We were in Building 12 708A&B units. The units were clean and spacious. We took the larger of the two units - A side and the children had their own unit - B side.

Pools - The pools are well maintained with good quality loungers and free pool towels. The hot tubs are excellent and Hot! There is a new pool that is much larger than some of the others towards the back of the resort and we tended to visit this pool. You will find with some of the pools if you are staying all day that you may end up chasing the sun as you start to get shaded by the buildings as the sun moves round.

Location - The location of this resort is excellent. You are on the 192 right opposite Celebration (which is well worth a visit). You are a minute away from the I4 and yet you don't hear any noise. You're very close to Disney and only 15 mins away from the Universal Parks. We bought the flexiticket this year and didn't do Disney and had no trouble travelling to the Universal Parks.

Downside - The only downside to this resort is that they do not offer free WiFi. If the could sort this then it would be fantastic.

Great holiday and we will definitely be back to Vacation Village at Parkway in future years.

We visited FL the end of Aug & beginning of Sept. Suite was large and spacious. Day one the hairdryer caught fire nearly buring my wife's hair. No pool in courtyard, had to walk to another courtyard to swim. Day four, housekeeping failed to empty all the trash and apparently stole my son's ipod classic. Mr. Hector Rivera of loss prevention still has yet to call us back about our insurance claim for the loss. My daughter did like the kids corner activity center but she was the only kid that night. If you want to purchase they are all smiles and very accommodating...if you need assistance help is hard to find.

We apologize that our guest services department was not more helpful and did not follow up appropriately. Consistent, superior customer service is very important to us and we expect it to be maintained on all levels for every guest at our resort, regardless of ownership status, pre/post sale, etc. We appreciate your feedback.

We just returned from VVP after an 8 night stay. The check-in seemed a little like an unorganized zoo even at 11:00 at night. The rooms were spacious and clean. I could have done without the dead salamander in our bedroom or the giant rat that was peering in our patio doors. Yes I said rat! Apparently the smell of my burned grilled cheese at 11:00pm was tantazlizing. Thank goodness I had just shut the doors when he came a lookin'. Oh my word giant shrieking woman running through the grounds would not have made for more good reviews. The location is perfect, the pools absolutely beautiful and to ourselves. Other than a few giant bugs and the above mentioned it was great.

I'm sorry to hear about your unwanted guests. Obviously, their presence is a concern to us and will be dealt with accordingly. We have several companies under contract that have assured us that this will never happen again. Thanks for the heads up.

Just returned from Vacation Village at Parkway 10/23/10-10/30/10. Traveled with 2 children <age 8, grandmother and 2 adults. Arrived about 8pm. Check-in went very smoothly. Declined free meal invitation (timeshare presentation) and was not bothered again about it. Kindly requested that we be given a room in a newer building with a washer/dryer, which they were happy to do. We were assigned to Bldg 14, room 508A/B. I was very impressed upon entering the larger unit. Everything seemed tidy and in order... until we entered the kitchen. As soon as I turned on the lights, ROACHES began scattering all over the kitchen counter. Within the first hour, I killed 3 roaches. Being in Florida, I was expecting maybe a few bugs (of the outside variety) or maybe even a lizzard, but ROACHES??? Disgusting. I immediately got my clorox wipes out and cleaned the counters down. Called the main office to report problem and they said that maintenance was exterminating all the buildings as we spoke. We never had anyone come to our room or saw any exerminating going on. The next morning while preparing for breakfast, my husband opened one of the cabinets and there were at least 4 huge roaches crawling around the glasses. We decided not to use any of the dishes/supplies there. Went to Wal-Mart and bought paper plates and plasticware. Very disgusted and upset about the kitchen. As for the rest of the unit, I must say that it was pretty nice. The rooms appeared tidy, the furniture wasn't brand new, but in good condition. Plenty of towels were available and were switched out midweek on Wednesday. The a/c was in very good working condition. The washer dryer worked well. Shower pressure was good.
The 2 elevators in the building were quick (probably because we were off peak and the building was practically empty). Parking was easy enough. We did have a chance to visit a few of the pools. The nicest of them all was between bldgs 16-17. It is new and very nice. Zero entry, huge hottub and kiddie splash area as well. The bathrooms were very clean there as well. We made one visit to the activities center, which is no more than a room with a TV and ping pong table. The kids did have a chance to paly with the Wii and were very happy. The grounds are maintained very well. If it wasn't for the roaches, I would actually give this place a great review. Less than 5 minutes to Disney Maingate with any and every place in the world to eat/play on 192, the location was great. We could actually catch a glimpse of the fireworks at Epcot on our balcony. We didn't pay the $50/wk for the wifi since my phone was wifi capable. Also, there is a $10 charge for the in room safe, and it's not large enough for a laptop. This place was ok, but we won't be staying here again.

My first time to the Orlando area. My husband and I had friends traveling with us visiting from Australia. We were very happy with our accommodations at Vacation Village. We had two large adjoining rooms, both with full kitchens and living areas. The resort has 5 pools and lots of outdoor space with grills/nature walks etc. The rooms were very clean and spacious. The only thing I didnt like was the rough blankets on the beds and threadbare sheets. Otherwise, location was excellent. Right around the corner from Disney resorts and close to shopping and convenience stores. One restaurant we loved which was just up the road was Ocean 11 -- Highly recommend it.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2010

Many places claim to be a resort but few actually provide the amenities to back-up their claim. Not the case the Vacation Village at Parkway. Part of the Vacation Village family of timeshare properties, this location is centrally located in the Kissimmee/Celebration area and only 15-20 minutes from parking at Disney World. This massive resort complex boast over 18 building sections, each with 5 or more floors. On each floor are at least 8 units. So when you do the math, this place is big! Though it may be a big complex, it seems leisurely tucked away.

My travelling party, which included a small child, stayed at the Vacation Village at Parkway in mid-October 2010. Our unit was located in building 3 and was a “lock-off” unit. On one side of the lock-off, the “A” side, was a one bedroom unit (king size bed) with a full bathroom and full kitchen, not to mention a large living and dinning area. On the “B” side was one bedroom unit (double/small-queen size bed) with a full bathroom and partial kitchen (no full stove/range or dishwasher). The “B” side offers a slight smaller living/dinning area. Both “A” and “B” are connected internally via a set of doors. Both sides offer a large TV with a smaller TV in the bedroom, a furnished patio, a sofa bed, washer and dryer. The larger “A” unit features a Jacuzzi tub. Kitchens are stocked with nearly all the utensils that you will need and the fridges offer an ice maker in the freezer. Units offer great temperature control. The units and common areas were very clean. The décor is fairly modern and is made to style that of the West Indies.

Our building, along with 5 other buildings, encircled two swimming pools. Most of the even numbered units offer views overlooking the pool area. The pool areas offer a shallow children’s pool with fountain beside the larger pools. The pool area is open until 11pm in most building areas. The resort offers plenty of activities onsite and will give guest an events calendar which indicates the daily events. These events can include: a movie at the pool area, face painting, creating tie-dye shirts (extra cost), snow cones, scuba lessons, etc. The resort’s guest services can offer plenty of assistance with planning your day and it is possible to purchase park tickets from the resort (which can include a small discount for multi-day passes). Between many of the building complexes are nature conservation zones providing walking trails and boardwalks. A stroll along these boardwalks can provide plenty of fascinating sites, especially with feeding the cat fish in the ponds or the birds along the shore. There is also an onsite RCI office for those timeshare exchange members.

Within walking distance is the Arabian Nights Dinner Theatre and a short drive away, along Irlo Bronson/Route 192, are a number of grocery stores (Walgreens, Publix) and plenty of popular chain restaurants (IHOP, Golden Corral, Wendys, Red Lobster). Yes, the big parks are within a few minutes drive but I would recommend checking out Fun Spot or Old Town Amusement Parks which are approx. 5 minutes from the resort.

If I have to look for deficiencies then I may mention that the mattress/beds were a little uncomfortable (memory foam mattress?). Though I left my laptop at home, I did not notice any mention of high-speed access in the unit. And, as mention previously, there is a lack of security cameras that are common with many of the large resorts though there appeared to be plenty of security personnel walking around the property late at night. Overall, none of these issues affected the enjoyment of my stay. With all of this said, I would certainly return to Vacation Village at Parkway… and I certainly hope to in the near future.
