We decided to take a spring-break trip to Florida to get some warm weather and booked once again at the Magic Tree for a week stay. As before, we did a 2 bedroom unit and got 402C (a ground level unit) which was good, as I had just had surgery on my foot and had to use a 'roller' cart my entire stay.
As our previous stays here, there was no issues with check-in or with the room. I had told them of my foot issue and asked for a room on the ground level; they set us up with one very close to one of the pool entrance gates which made it very nice as I spent most of the time there. Our room was fine, with an LCD TV in the main room and a 'picture tube' TV in the bedrooms. This room was nice in that it was on the north side of the property, so we didn't have a bunch of car/truck traffic passing by (last time we were on the south side). The unit again was fully furnished well beyond what we needed. We had no problems with any of the appliances or equipment during the stay other than a card key that stopped working after a couple of days.
Being early April, the weather was still cool in the evenings and the pool was heated to 88 which was just right. We had no problem getting a table with umbrella plus some lounge chairs in the pool area -- but then it was the week after Easter so it could have been due to the fact spring break was pretty much over for most schools. Since the last visit, two changes were observed: they added a few more tables with umbrellas around the pool (which was nice) but they did away with the help-yourself-to-towels bin at the pool. Instead, they put 6 large beach towels under our bathroom sinks to use which be swapped for clean ones at the desk or put in the basket for daily towel changes. When asked why, they said too many towels were disappearing. Bummer; I really liked being able to get a towel at any time. But this was better than a 'card' that you had to trade in. And we did get 6, so we had plenty.
The staff was always friendly, saying hi or asking how it was going. There was fresh, free popcorn in the lobby every time I went for some and they also had a daily movie showing if you wanted to get out of the sun for a while in the afternoon (I don't remember this happening the last time we stayed here). The grounds were clean and well maintained, and appeared to have had some improvements (seemed like less over-grown with bushes and trees). We did have chainsaw noise one day as they trimmed a couple of large trees near the pool but it was in the late morning so didn't impact us too much.
There were no other improvements or changes that we observed from our stay over a year ago. It was an enjoyable, quiet, relaxing stay, just what we wanted.
