Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center

The Gaylord Palms at Orlando, Florida is a unique hotel not only because of it's size but also because it's design. First, if you request a room with a view to the inside you will be surprised by the huge dome that covers the central area. Many different restaurants ranging from sushi to high quality steak can be found. If you are a sports fan you won't be disappointed by the two story screen at their sport's bar. For sure a very different and interesting hotel!

the castle like building can not be missed. from self parking ($18+tax) to check in it's a 5-10min hike, but one gets rewarded quickly after entering the building. despite being so huge, there is taken care of every detail. it's actually like entering a little theme park and one may get lost here in the first place. our room was quite large with 2queens and all amenities of a 5star property i.e.safe, fridge etc. a little balcony with 2 chairs faced the atrium with it's jungle like plantation. there is so much to see, when exploring the grounds and one can stroll around for hours. from a treehouse like high end steakhouse thru ponds and waterfalls with large koi fishes, turtles and little alligators via the replica of st.augustine castle to a little key west lagoon with a huge sailboat and cute shops...all indoors. the hotel has various restaurants and a little Marketplace for Starbucks, icecream and sandwiches and chairs to hang out. the restaurants are expensive. we found the sports bar the most affordable, but hurry, this place gets crowded early. our stroll ended at the (outdoor-) pool area with an adult- and an adventure pool for children. both are too small for a hotel of this caliber and free deck chairs are rare. overall a great, but pricy, experience for a day or two. because the area has so much more to offer, I may have stayed here only once. enjoy.

Many nice restaurants on site, with many more in close proximity to the center as well as the local theme parks and attractions. Rooms were very clean and spacious and the staff courteous. Highly recommended for business or pleasure. Only "negative" was that our reservation was for a room with two queen beds. What we got was one queen bed and one fold out couch (with a memory foam mattress).

We have stayed several times at this hotel. The atrium views are wonderful. The kids loved the pool area. The restaurants are pretty pricey and not too compatable to small children. Everyone had a great time. The atrium area is gorgeous, lots to see with the fish, alligators, everglades, key west and St. Augustine fort. We woud go back again.

Room Tip: Atrium views are a must. We always like up high overlookking St Augustine

We hosted a weekend birthday celebration for our kids and 8 grandkids. What a super place to spend the weekend with small children. Pool area and water park were excellent, clean and water park was well supervised. There were activities like Simon Says, Hula Hoop contests, cannonball contests and nightly movies at the pool for the kids. We did not have to leave the property although the food was a little pricey but OK for resort dining.

We had a wonderful weekend experience at the Gaylord.

This is a wonderful family hotel. The children's pool area is very nice with water slides and a evening weekend family pool party. They show kids movies at the pool at 8:30 pm. The adult pool is also very nice. It's a nice touch to have the pools separated.

The indoor area is so expansive and unique it's a must see! There is a large variety of dining and drinking options as well.

Drawbacks were the price of food and drink on the resort. Kids meals were priced ok at 8.50 but most everything else was priced very high.

We had cocktails in the restaraunt and pool bar, they are about 14.00 per drink whith beer being over 5.00 per beer. I had baked chicken for dinner at Sunset SAMs and it was 23.00 and included no sides! They needed to be purchased seperately. Breakfast buffet was 23.00 per person.

My advice would be to definately stay here but plan on doing the majority of your drinking and eating elsewhere. Or bring your own if possible. The rooms have a mini fridge.

We found the service to be on the slow side as well which was surprising given the prices of everything. But overall, we still really enjoyed this unique hotel and will be back.

We stayed for the weekend while visiting LEGOLAND. We drove down from PA and checked in very early with no problems. The front desk area was very nice as well as the interior. The kids loved exploring. Many places to eat but found it was difficult to find a quick bite to eat. Most food options were not great for small kids. The rooms were a good size and very clean. The pool was great! The kids area was so much fun. In the evening, they had awesome entertainment. I felt like the outside didn't match the inside. My biggest complaint was the resort fee and the parking fee and the cost of food. I felt that compared to other hotels in the area, we spent too much on this one.
