“Perkins: overpriced diner with mediocre service”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 10, 2013

I've been to Perkins a few times in other states and enjoyed the experience, which is why I wanted to stop here before driving back down to South FL. Big mistake! I should've gone for one of the many other options on Osceola Parkway, because this was pretty bad.

The main thing that differentiates this place from other diners is that they have a bakery. Big deal. Their incessant hawking of their bakery doesn't make up for the crummy food they serve. Expect the usual breakfast and lunch diner specials - omelets, french toast/pancakes, sandwiches, and melts. The prices were pretty high, considering what one would pay at other equivalent diners. We ordered a club sandwich and a chicken tenders sandwich melt. To their credit, both sandwiches were freshly made and piping hot when they arrived at our table. But, that's where the compliments end: the food was pretty bad. The lunchmeat on the club was sparse, and the bacon barely cooked and extremely fatty. The chicken tender melt also suffered from undercooked bacon and was so buttery/greasy that it practically slipped out of my hands each time I tried to pick it up. Yuck. There's a bad way to do diner food, and this is it, folks. The fact that each of these sandwiches cost ~$11 was pretty ridiculous, too. You're not as classy of a joint as you think you are, Perkins.
To add insult to injury, service was very poor. Our waitress couldn't have been more disinterested in serving us, barely bothering to ask for our order and never checking on us during the meal. It was like pulling teeth to get her to come back and give us our check - guess she realized she was phoning it in and didn't care about her tip, either.

Perkins = an overpriced Denny's and truly not worth the visit. At least Denny's doesn't put on airs like this place does.

“Needs improvement”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 29, 2012 via mobile

Food is good. But the service is almost always horrible!! We go during the weekday, there are very customers (maybe one or tables besides ours) so you would think the service would be fast. But it's like they are doing us a huge favor just to get a little service (a drink, some ice, etc). Also, they should add wi-fi, it would definitely attract more customers.

“Perkins with a little extra”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 7, 2012

Seen one Perkins you have pretty much seen then all? Well there are a few differences. This one is newly built, clean and bright. The food is standard but they have a great staff. When Perkins closed a number of their restaurants we saw employees who had worked for years just cut loose. Fortunately some of the best workers were brought to this location. They have a kids eat free night, call them for details. Add a guy who does ballon animals now and then and it makes an affordable time out. Another advantage is being in the loop area with lots of shopping available, movies, etc. Beware; the area gets a little less friendly after dark. Lots of bored young people just hanging around.
