This was about 15 min. from our hotel so decided to check it out.
The road going to it is under construction but can still get to it.
No admission fee and we just walked in not seeing anyone.
The front is the shop area with orchids to purchase along with other items.
The back is very run down and unkept. The concept is great but has not been maintained.
Large goldfish in pond area under small arch bridge.
Lots of orchids and others plants to see and many in bloom.
Too bad there either isn't the funds or personnel to bring this place up to date but if you just want to wonder around and see some beautiful orchids and are close by you might want to check it out.
Quiet atmosphere and great variety of orchids.

Happy we only drove 3 miles to get here. I didn't know about them being hit by Hurricane Charlie in 2004 & not having insurance to cover the damage. It explains why the gallery is almost empty of orchids & in disrepair. The gift shop has the best orchids, but even they are limited. Don't drive more than 5 miles to visit & only if you have nothing else to do. Hope they can recover & find the funds to recreate what was once a gorgeous showroom gallery.

We visited World of Orchids in Kissimmee, FL this morning. They have gorgeous orchids for sale, and the sales room is a nice place to visit. Many other orchid related items for
sale as well. However, the orchid gardens are sadly in need of many repairs. We visited several years ago when the paint was new, parrots were on perches, and the plants
looked new and healthy, Unfortunately the parrots are gone, and the building is in
disrepair. I believe it might have been hit with a bad storm a few years ago, which could
account for some of the damage. If you're interested in purchasing an orchid plant, or
related merchandise this is the place to go, but just to visit the garden, not worth the drive anymore.

As orchid home growers we enjoyed our visit to World of Orchids. From the previous reviews we discovered that it has been through a lot. Still it has an old world charm to it. And the orchids in the front are beautiful and well worth seeing. Only wish that we could have taken a plant or 2 back to New York but they wouldn't do well flying. We stayed across the road at Mystic Dunes so this was a nice close place to visit. Very enjoyable.

Although there were a few orchids inside the front building, the garden area was devoid of flowers.
