We first 'discovered' Chef John's in January, 2011. Since then, we have visited Disney on about 8 more occasions. On EVERY trip to the Disney area, we visit Chef John's at least once during our stay. We especially like the expanded menu with the addition of the 'smoke house' (BBQ) choices. If you go, be sure to try the key lime pie for dessert. My wife does not like key lime pie. Except, that is, at Chef John's. It is terrific.
PS: Chef John and his wife are super nice people.

I usually have the BBQ smoked ribs or brisket both great so tasty, the food here is always well seasoned and cooked just right better than some fancy expensive restaurants around!
This place is such great value for your dollar with a great atmosphere and chef John is a wonderful host coming out of the kitchen making sure you are enjoying your meal the staff are charming and friendly too we will keep coming back

Located in a small, non-descript strip mall near a Walgreen's, the facade of Chef John's Place offers no hint of the culinary wonders that await inside. But do not be fooled. There is a master chef in the kitchen and the food and service are top notch.

We were a party of four and we had made a reservation for 5:30 on a Monday evening. At that hour, there were only a few other guests in the restaurant. This was great for us as we were able to relax, talk and actually hear each other.

The menu offers an eclectic mix of barbecue, sandwiches, salads, seafood, fish and steaks -- everything from casual to fine dining. There is something for everyone and the pricing is moderate. There are bottled sodas, teas, and coffee and also wines by the glass or bottle.

Three of us sampled the barbecue -- chicken, pulled pork, beef brisket and ribs. We all agreed that it was among the best we have ever had. Chef John's sweet barbecue sauce is outstanding and the sides that accompany the dishes are amazing. We especially marveled at the sweet potato fries -- so crisp without a drop of grease -- and the collard greens which were so tasty.

My husband opted for one of the nightly specials -- blackened salmon over linguine with baby string beans. He said it was perfection!!! It doesn't get any better than that!!

We didn't try the desserts because of dietary considerations but we wish we could have. I'll bet they are good too.

I should mention that our server, Patty, was a delight -- so friendly and solicitous. She anticipated our every need without our having to ask.

To sum it up, we loved the restaurant and can't wait to go back. For us, it is a one hour drive but we think it is definitely worth it!! Be forewarned though, the place is small so be sure to make a reservation.
