We stayed in the villas with a check in of June 29th. First off we didn't get our unit that we own the week for because they rented it out to someone the prior week and they weren't checking out until Sunday (following day). They gave us four vouchers for the inconvenience to use on there property, not to mention that the entire voucher of $25 had to be used at checkout as no money would be returned.
On day two while in the kitchen, my husband noticed a big brown bug, which looked like a roach. we thought that somehow it had come in from outside as the door had just opened when we came in the door. We didnt think anything else of it. The very next night, same situation with another roach. I then proceeded to make a complaint because this was ridiculous. They said that the pest control had went home as it was after 12am, however they would schedule something for first thing in the morning. I went to bed scared that I would be attacked and possibly the roaches would get in my bags and I would unintentionally take them back home. The following morning I had to call again because the message wasn't relayed. When the pear guy finally came, he asked about the description of the bug which I explained as huge and brown- he proceeded to tell me that it was a Palmetta bug!! I then told him NO that was a roach!! He disagreed and tried to make it like it was no big deal. I looked up palmetto bug later and it is commonly known as an American Roach! He sprayed the entire unit and we didn't have any other ROACH problems! They have an insect/roach problem for them to be trying to pass off a roach as something else.
We went to the park and mistakenly left the vouchers on the table thinking no one would come in. However, when we returned looking for the vouchers to get something to eat, they were not there. Housekeeping had come in and gave us new towels along with folding up some blankets (next to the table where the vouchers were). It was at that time that they took the vouchers. A security report was filed and the security officer replaced the vouchers.
We had terrible neighbors that were loud and ghetto! They were bouncing a basketball in the shared hallway as well as leaving the door open while they were cursing and fussing. We shared a doorbell so the kids continued to play on the doorbell like they had no home training. I filed a complaint with the front desk and security came to handle the issue.
The walls are super thin, the mattress doesn't sit on a box spring and the bed is super hard. My husband woke up stiff everyday and couldnt sleep comfortably. The entire site of Westgate Vacation Villas looked like the inner city of Detroit or the ghetto with more African American (which we are) people that I have ever seen on vacation. The place is not diverse at all- unless you count 1% of Caucasian and Mexican. When we bought back in 2004, the demographics were not as they are now. We will not be going back to visit. We will continue to use this property for trading purchases. We own a 4 bedroom in building 5400 which is a newer villa. We will not be visiting ever again.
