“Huge resort. Be prepared to drive”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 20, 2014 via mobile

We stayed at Orange Lake Resort for the second week in March 2014. This was our second stay at Orange Lake but our first since Holiday Inn bought the property. A few things things that you should expect if you stay at this resort.
1. This is a time share resort. Be prepared at checkin to be prompted to the vacation sales desk. This is where a very nice and pleasant employee will be overly nice and try to sign you up to "tour" the property and see all the fabulous things that Holiday Inn has done to improve the resort. Don't waste your vacation. They will tell you it is only a 60 minute tour but let's be real. It will take your sales rep 60 min just to say hi. Then you need to take the tour. Expect the tour to last half your day.
2. The resort is huge. Orange Lake resort is comprised of 4 resorts in 1. West Village, North Village, East Village and River Island. All of the areas have their own pool but River Island has by far the nicest, largest, and busiest pool. Expect to be at the River Island pool by 11am on a busy day to get a chair. If you don't want to drive to the pool stay at River Island condos. These are really the only condos that you are guaranteed to be able to walk to the pool. Every other condo you will be driving or taking the resort shuttle.
3. This is really a golf resort with 3 golf courses spread around the property. Most condos will have a view of some golf course which is what makes the resort so spread out.
We have stayed in the East village in a 3 bedroom condo and the North village in a 2 bedroom condo. Both are large and provide plenty of room for families. Furnishing are nice but the cabinetry isn't as nice as other places. We did have to deal with ants in the second bathroom for half of our vacation. The exterminator thought we were lucky since the downstairs unit had the ants all over the kitchen. I guess that's lucky. The exterminator put some stuff down to kill the ants which he said it should work by Friday. It was only Tuesday.
If you are considering this resort and golf isn't a motivator than make sure that you price shop. In my opinion there are much nicer Hilton condos near seaworld or on Idrive. You may also look in other sites and check out Wyndham Bonnet Creek which is smack in the middle of Disney World.

Hello Cory. Thank you for staying with us, it’s great to have you as a return guest. We appreciate your feedback and thoughts you shared about your stay. Our resort has a strategic partnership with the Holiday Inn brand but is still a wholly owned family company. You’re right; our resort is also a vacation ownership property and we encourage all of our guests to learn more about the great opportunity the Club offers to them and their future vacations. Because of our resort’s large size, we offer complimentary transportation all across property via resort shuttles. We may have world class golf courses all along our resort, but we have much more to offer through our location to local attractions like theme parks, shopping, and dining as well! We hope you consider us to host you and your family on a future visit so we can show you just how much fun we can add to your trip!

Well - glad we only staying for two days....

Huge with 4 villages lots of villas and apartments - 2400+

Lots of people and children - no places easily found round the pools and river.

A hard sell from the promotional people - who could do the speil a lot more efficiently

Apartment - one bedroom but small for an American resort.

Shall not return

Room Tip: In the apartments not ground or 1st floor if you want a view - but you probably do not have a choice

Thanks for choosing to stay with us during a getaway to the Orlando area. You’re right; our resort is much larger than a traditional resort experience. We try to include characteristics into each of our villages that would match a wide variety of different preferences. Our team wants all of our guests to hear about the exciting benefits of being a Club Member and we’re sorry if may have felt pressured or made uncomfortable at all. We really hope you consider us in the future so we can show you just how much fun we can add to your vacation.

We stayed for a week in a one bedroom, we had plenty of room nice place. The ground were clean pool was nice but needs a pool boy to keep up on the leaves that were in the lazy river. As for the 20 the try to hook you for as soon as you check in don't it's not worth it. I didn't do it. You have to pay for tubes which is really dumb, I've stayed at the Marriott where they give you free tubes. Your paying to stay there so everything but Golfing should be extra.
We want to universal and it's a good 30 to 45 min drive depending on traffic.
Parking at night was terrible we stayed at river island and you need more parking or get rid of. some of your vehicles so your guest can park.

Hi there, we appreciate your feedback and welcome back from your recent stay. We’re glad that you enjoyed your stay overall and that your villa gave you just the room you needed. It’s great that you made some time to enjoy our resort amenities and although some are for a small fee, all of our pools, basketball and tennis courts, and kid’s golf are free of charge. We hope to see you again in the future for more good times in the Orlando area.

I arrived at the Holiday Inn Orange Lake Country Club and Resort, and I walked into the mega spacious check in facility. The front desk was very welcoming and accommodating. They gave me a complementary upgrade. We then were able to walk over to the attractions desk and pick up our Disney tickets at a very reasonable price. My son meanwhile checked out the arcade, and the pool just outside. He also loved the indoor giant atrium with seating, dinner selections, and nice ambiance.
We then left the check in facility to move into our condo. It was a beautiful first floor 1260 square foot two bedroom condo. The kitchen was well equipped and came with coffee, and condiments. We also enjoyed the washer-dryer, three TVs, and comfy beds. There was a large screened in porch with a door to the outside that made it easy to bring in our luggage.
If you turn left out of the main entrance there is a super target on the right. There is also a Publix Grocery nearby. If you take a left out the entrance, you will find Disney Parks are just a few minutes away.
Behind our condo, Orange Lake sported a sand beach with volleyball, a zero entry pool, waterslide, and lazy river. There was also a 36 hole incredible tropical mini-golf, and the worlds largest water slide. We also discovered eateries, a business center, shopping, and more. There were movie theaters, and activities for the family, and activity centers that were well equipped and well staffed. We also were delighted over the two golf courses, and the secluded and restful atmosphere. We were told that Orange Lake was the largest resort land wise in the world.
We attended the timeshare presentation, and we were hosted by Garrett. He was amazing in his knowledge of the resort and the complete advantages of timeshare. We were offered an incredible deal that would allow us to stay in the finest accommodations all over the world for years to come.
The hospitality, value, and family togetherness that Orange Lake offered us was truly a treasure. We were able to build lifelong memories in the few days we resided at this fabulous resort. We will be back again soon.

Room Tip: Tell them that you are IHG Platinum.

Let me start by saying my parents began taking my family there in 1985, and became owners in 1991. We have vacationed there every single year since. EVERY single year. I now bring my 3 children as well. Suffice it to say we have seen many changes. Some good, some not so good. I have just returned from a 5 day stay in a 2 bedroom villa in the West Village (My parents own 2 weeks) The villa was clean, and housekeeping was very accomodating. The pillows were HORRIBLE as were the mattresses. The food at Breezes was mediocre, the drinks were great. Get the mudslide...fantastic. My worst experience this trip was Legends Grill. It was absolutely awful. The Fish and Chips (we went on a Friday during Lent) were not edible, the nachos came out with unmelted shredded cheese, we sent them back, then they came back to us with a cheese sauce poured over the unmelted shredded cheese. Very bizarre. The waitress was unfriendly and inexpereinced. I'd like to note that she was very obviously pregnant as well, which I have no problem with..I have birthed 3 of my own and get it. But if the demands of the job are too much during pregnancy, get a new one. I shouldn't have to deal with your misery on my vacation. The manager was unhelpful when we complained. Overall the grounds are really lovely. My biggest tip would be to get up early and reserve your pool chairs and stay there as the staff WILL remove your things if you are not there.

Room Tip: I love the villas in the West Village.

Nice resort, however staff consistently calls to sell time shares, persistent at front desk to buy, YOU HAVE TO PAY TO USE LAZY RIVER.

Overall we would not stay at this resort again.

Overall was very disappointed with how they tried to sell.

Hello Brad. We’re pleased that you chose us as a host for your recent Orlando visit. As a vacation ownership property, we want all of our guests to know what the Club can offer then and the lifetime of better, flexible vacations it provides. We apologize if you felt uncomfortable in anyway while our staff offered the opportunity to you. Our lazy river on property is actually free of charge for all guests; the renting of select amenities, such as tubes, for the lazy river may come at a nominal fee. We really hope that you consider us as a destination for a future Orlando vacation so we can show you how much fun a vacation with us can be.

We stayed here over Xmas in West Village loved the villas. Returned in March for 10 days, River Island, even better. We had a fantastic stay and can't wait to go back again. West Village was great because of the drive up rooms. River Island because the pool was right outside the building. I don't know which one I would choose over the other. Yes it is a huge resort. Once you get the "layout of the land" it is very easy to get your way around there.
The bars onsite, also add the gratuity right onto your order. In December, 2013 they weren't doing this, in March, 2014 they were. And it was at 18 %. We just brought our own drinks down to the pool. Our kids did the teen tubing, and teen beach bash. They had a blast. Well worth it. Don't take all the negatives. It really is a great resort. The timeshare sharks are there, that is their JOB! I just very strictly told them, I am here to enjoy my vacation with my family. I don't need or want to do a timeshare tour. Thank you for asking, but I am good. They pushed me a little, AND I again, said, once again, NO THANK YOU. I am going now. And I left. They only called once, and that was it.

Room Tip: Ask for a pool view at river island. If it is an RCI exchange, those rooms are already allocated. We...
