I love this joint! I stayed at the river island got a forest view because I don't like the sound of kids 24/7. The 1 bedroom was ample and we had friends pop by for a night and the pull out in the living rom was perfect. Cabanas are greAt on hot days, include fruit water tv and newspaper and ceiling fan. It poured the day we got one, but that was great because we didn't get wet! The lazy river is wonderful with a charge for the tube. If you are an owner be sure to tell the staff and get your discount! Check out local groupons in case you don't want to cook.

Room Tip: River island, stay away from the stairwell, doors are noisy!

I honestly cannot fathom why anyone would give this place a less than stellar rating. Granted, we are owners, but no one knows that except at check-in and when you tell them to get the 10% discount. Check-in was a little long, but not terrible; after all, we were there at prime check-in time -- 6PM. Pools- and we tried them all -- were always clean and well-stocked when visited. Servers were always polite and there were plenty of things to do.

Our until seems to have been refurbished recently; the furniture is in really good shape as are the appliances, etc. My only complaint is that we could use a small frying pan (we complain about this at every place we visit and blame ourselves for not remembering to bring our own.

Cash bingo (unlike cruise ships) was cheap -- $5 for 6 cards and the prizes seemed to depend on the size of the crowd -- yesterday the three games paid $60, $130 and $206. Our disposal locked up and the repair person was to our unit in 10 minutes.

This is a big place for families, but there is also an adults only pool that is nice and quiet. We MAY go to Disney tomorrow, but so far, we don't see much reason to leave the premises. If anything changes before our week is out, I"ll come back and update this review.

Since i bought into OL some things got better like the free WiFi ,the restaurants prices and choices of food and the price of golf dropped especially booking a tee time with the OL app for the smart phone. interesting notes, the game room -$50 in play will cost you 2500 points when a round of pitch and put will cost you 3500 pts but it only costs $9 in cash, go Figure???
anywho .i always go on the sales thing just to test out the sales tactics its fun watching them beg for more $ from you. They will try everything to get you to buy more points or a better more valuable week, whatever , i barely use my yearly points as it is plus they always send me coupons for $179 /$199 for 4 days , i bought a 2 bed 2 bath unit back on 06' i can squeeze 4 trips a year in smaller units, i just go on these "tours" to get the resort credits or cash or tickets to Disney
Personally i do not have children nor am i ever going to have children,
OL is geared for kids with just a hand full or actually two fingers of adult only activities.
some other interesting notes, the west village has roaches here and there crawling around and we saw a rat run across the pool area, no biggie, just a note..its expected we are in the middle of a swamp.
The gym in River island where i own my unit is lacking some essential equipment such as a leg press and mats to do stretches on.also no leg press in the gym in the west village , IMPORTANT- OL take note ,the Stair climber machine's electrical cord wires are exposed, i alerted an employee to this.(in the river island gym)
cleanliness in river island is still perfect. good point
using your own tube or noodle is not allowed - BAD POINT
We always manage to have a great time wherever we go and this trip was as usual , GREAT
utilizing ever aspect of OL from karaoke to night golfing to drinking up at all the bars and meeting new friends, its always a good time at OL and the staff is always friendly as ever!
good tip - go to OLD TOWN/ the FUN SPOT for the most awesome GO KART experience

We stayed at this resort from Sept. 22 to Sept 19 and had 2 units on the east side of the resort.
This is the second time we stayed in this resort via RCI as a time share vacation exchange, so it is a nice resort. Let's divide the review into 2 parts, the nice one and the not so nice one:

The nice side:
This resort is huge; you can drive inside the resort a few good miles. We are not golf players but it is probably a paradise resort for golfers. The hotel resort is actually inside a big golf resort so all is very green and well maintained. The units are big nice and do have all you will need for a family stay.
In our unit we had 2 bad rooms with 2 bath rooms, a large dining and leaving room and the kitchen was fully equipped. A small safe, washing and drying machine are also in the unit.
Each room had a TV (Old style in the rooms & flat screen in the leaving room.
Everything related to the unit is on the very positive side. The resort location is minutes from all the Walt Disney attractions and all the other central Florida attractions.

On the not so nice side:
about 5 years ago we visited this location and had real bad experience with what is called an introduction presentation to convince you to buy a time share unite. It was a real painful process which I will skip the details. This time we came in minded that we will skip upfront any request to participate in this painful presentation. Well, we managed to skip it but we were "forced" to participate in a pre-effort to get us into what they call a "VIP" one hour presentation.
I will describe the process we went trough which is very carefully planed to "by the way" get us into the presentation - when we checked in, the front desk lady advised us that we entitled to get a $20.00 voucher for each unit, we had 2 units so 2 vouchers of $ 20.00, Nice right,(not in reality). The front desk lady told us that in order to activate the voucher we need to go to Mr.... and he will do it for us. When we went to Mr .... he forwarded us to another individual and her we got started with a real pressing type welcome. We were pushed very hard and aggressively to participate in the "one hour" sale presentation in order to get all kind of "discounts" for the amenities in the resort. I will not get into the very detailed discussion but will mention only one that is really a shame for Holyday Inn. The resort has a nice pool with a nice water channel that you can float around slowly on an air tube. When we visited the resort a few years ago entering the pool was free but there was a fee to rent an air tube. This time during the "pre-presentation" we were told very clearly that getting into the pool will cost us over $50.00 (I do not remember the exact no.) but if we participate in the one hour presentation it will cost only $18.00 for each person (We were 7 so a $126.00 total cost). We asked twice, is the pool not free and the reply was, no it is not free anymore like in the past. After 4 days in the resort I got a phone call from a nice lady asking me if everything is OK and if we need anything. During our conversation I mentioned to here about the pool charge and she told us that getting in the pool is steel free the only cost is renting the air tubes. Well, we lost 4 days of using the pool.
By the way, the $20.00 voucher are only good if you use one of the charged amenities in the resort like the Mini golf and so on they are not good for food or anything ells to purchase in the resort shops. They were basically useless and meant mainly to get you into the "VIP" presentation. My suggestion to anyone who plane to be in this resort, skip the $20.00 voucher staff get your room keys and walk out so you will not have to go through this painful and very frustrating process.
We visited the resort via RCI but I am Platinum Holiday inn member so I have a personal message to Holiday Inn - Shame on you.

Room Tip: My suggestion to anyone who plane to be in this resort, skip the $20.00 voucher staff get your room...

Hello and thank you for taking the time to review your recent and past experience with us. We’re happy to hear that overall you enjoy your experience with our resorts and were able to relax and enjoy all of the amenities available. We’re disappointed to hear that your experience with our property presentations was not up to your vacation standards. Our property presentations are a great way to not only find out about vacation ownership, but also all of the amenities available around the resort. However, we want all of our guests to know that these tours are always 100% optional for our guests who are looking to find out more about a better way to vacation. We do offer compensation for our guests time when they do attend the presentation. We would love the opportunity to host you again in the future to show you how much fun vacationing with us can be.

OLR is a great place for a family with or without kids. Close to the parks, Walgreen, Target and I-4, make this place a perfect location for vacations. Love the pools and the accommodations. Rooms are big and stack with everything you need to feel at home. I am looking forward to my November trip (my third trip to OLR).

Room Tip: River Island is more crowed but closer to the lazy river. East Lake is prefect for people looking t...

Hi there and welcome home from your stay with us. Nothing makes us happier than hearing from our guests all about their stays with us. We always want our guests and owners to think of us as their home-away-from-home. You couldn't give us any higher compliment than a return stay and we can’t wait to see you again in November.

The first condo we were given was infested with millipeds so after we had every thing unpacked we had to pack everything and move.My daughter forgot a special cup in the cupboard so I went back in a half an hour later the cleaning crew was there but the cup wasn't and nobody saw it.The second condo the micro wave didn't work the ice maker didn't work the coffee maker didn't work. The screen door was cut right by lock so you had to make sure the inside door was locked. You don't get anything included you have to rent a tube to float around on or $10 to play a round of miniature golf. The thing that bothered me the most was the stink,it smelled like they spread cow manure everyday we were there. You couldn't sit outside at night or early in the morning and I like to sit on the patio and have my coffee in the morning.I really doubt we would ever stay there again.
