Holiday Inn Club Vacations At Orange Lake Resort
Ranked #20 of 154 Hotels in Kissimmee

Date of visit: 6/11/11-6/17/11
Pros:
-Huge 3 bedroom/3 bath condo, whirlpool in master bath, lots of space. 3rd bdrm huge for in-laws.
-Free WiFi: super fast-faster than we get at home.
-Proximity to Super Target and Publix Grocery
-Proximity to Irlo Bronson Hwy: restaurants, shops, mini golf
-Proximity to Disney World
-River Island Lazy River & Pools
-large fitness center
-View of golf course from patio
-armadillos, deer and other wildlife roaming around
-full kitchen with stove, oven, dishwasher, double sink, microwave, coffee maker.
Cons:
-Showers only in 2 other baths (but we bathed the kids in our tub)
-Have to drive or take a shuttle anywhere within the resort (from our bldg anyway in 95F+ heat and humidity)
-Daily automated messages left on room phone for activities. A flyer at check-in would have sufficed.

No line at check-in (but we came at 10pm on a Saturday). If you don't want to do a timeshare presentation, simply walk out the front door after receiving your room assignment and keys! The "welcome center" is a separate desk and you aren't 'required' to cash in that $20 voucher.

If you're missing anything from the room, just call housekeeping. They will drop off anything you're missing (even if you're not there).

You can wave down a shuttle outside on the sidewalk...it'll stop for you.

If we stay here again, we'll be sure to ask for a unit at River Island. Much more convenient (shops/pool, etc) and closer to the resort entrance/exit.

Ate at one restaurant in the West Village during our stay. Waited a little longer than usual for the kids food. Hoped to save some $$ from eating outside the resort, but it was the same.

We wanted to go somewhere special with our Son and family, this was a great place to stay. The Holiday Inn Club Resort is an excellent choice, if you want open spaces and to be close to Disney. The grounds are based on Villages and each Village does have it;s own pool, Restaurants and golf course. For those who love coffee, they have a Starbucks on site. You can also have Pizza delivered to your condo, if you just want to stay in and relax. We stayed in the East Village on the 3rd floor, the floor space of the condo is great lots of space. We could see the fireworks at Disney from our room. The complex does have a fun zone area for kids and adults, there is a charge for this, a daily pass or a 7 day pass. The complex is a time share vacation resort, you will be invited to join them for a tour but you can always decline. We did accept and it was interesting , we also got some free fun zone passes for doing so. We declined any option to join the time share vacation club and they accepted our decision. So please don't be put off by the time share aspect, it's a great place to stay and we all loved it and will certainly go back. One last thing, they don't accept cash at the bars, shops and Restaurants. You pay by credit card or you need to purchase a pre-paid site card in which you load money onto it. You can also use your room key. We rate this complex highly.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor

The hotel room was a 2 bedroom and it was kind of small and the carpet was mest up but I wouldn't recommend it for a family larger than 4.

My family stayed here over Easter break and I was pleasantly surprised. The 2-bedroom condo was extremely nice for a vacation stay. There are many areas of the resort and we stayed in one the farthest away from the main building. There was a small swinning pool next door which was nice to walk to. And our balcony overlooked the golf course which was a nice view in the morning while having our coffee.

The condo was very spacious. Nice big kitchen with passover counter into the living and dining room so it's easy to converse with family members. The master bedroom was large with a huge master bath which included jacuzzi top and separate shower. There was a 2nd smaller bathroom with a shower which was next to the 2nd bedroom which was perfect for the kids.

We didn't stay at the condo much since the purpose of the trip was to visit the amusement parks, but it was nice to come back to the condo at night and stretch out and relax. Plus having the kitchen was great for having breakfast in the morning without having to go to a restaurant.

Since the property is large, you will need to drive to get to the attaractions (lazy river, mini golf, etc.). I also think they have planned activities during the day for those who stay on property.

Now - the drawback. This is a timeshare property and you may be asked/required to attend a "presentation." We were told it would be a 90-minute presentation, but 90 minutes turned in to almost 3 hours. They will try to get you to buy at least something. If you don't mind sitting through these sales pitches, then this is the place for you.

We stayed 3 nights at Orange Lake in May of 2011. The resort is very nice, but just massive. We litterally got lost inside the resort trying to find check in. The 2 bedroom/2 bath condo we stayed in was above average, it had all the ammenities you could need. My main complaint is that if you wanted to swim or use the game room, it was too far to walk, and the closest shuttle pick up was close to 1/4 mile down the road. So you drive there, and park. It made you feel more like a number, rather than a paying guest. I am glad that we stayed there once, but that said we probably won't go back.

This resort is oustanding for a family with young to teenage kids. This is our second visit. last time was June 2010 for Disney. This time was Universal/SeaWorld. We stayed in the 2 bdrm 2 bath villa both times. The rooms were very nice and clean. The beds were comfortable but the sofa will hurt your backside ! The bathrooms were large and spacious with seperate whirlpool tubs and shower and double vanity sinks. The kitchen was complete with all great condition appliances including coffe pot and mixer for those of ya that enjoy margaritas. The resort also has free Wi-Fi. The water park was excellent with several pools, slides and a hooch type pool. The cleanliness was above average considering all the kids swimming in it all day. The hotel staff was a little snooty but the restaurant staff personel were great. However, beware of the typical lame hidden resort fees, deposits, and costs that go with timeshare properties. I paid full price (wasnt there on some promotion) and the check-in staff "desperatly and overwhelmingly" tried to suck me into the timeshare hussle. The trick is to say no, no, no to everything ( about 15 times overall for me) including the free this and free that's or suffer a 2 hour check-in ! We also got hit with a couple calls during the stay telling my wife that I scheduled them to call when I was at check-in for the "tour of the property" with free dining and blah blah blah. Just say no, no no !
Overall the stay was well above average but the timeshare game was silly and will have you mad especially after a 6+ hour drive !

Room Tip: Friends dont let friends buy timeshares !

This place is GARBAGE.........just like teh GARBAGE we found inside our villa and outside our door. Looks like the cleaning crew came around and left the job half finished. The air around the villa smelled like someti8ng large had died and decayed...and it was like that for the entire 3 days we miserably spent there. Almost ALL the staff were from India and we couldn't get decent understanding information from anyone where anything is. OH! and get your wallet out if you're STUPID enough to stay here, EVERYTHING costs money and a LOT of it...you cant even fish for free and it doesn't matter because they stock the 2 teeny weeny ponds with minnows, the same thing they sell you to use as bait........there are NO vending machines anywhere and their overpriced restaraunt was selling burgers at a whopping 8 dollars a piece that tasted like an old tire........their bar's drinks had hardly any liquor in them and for what it costs for one marguerita you could have bought a fifth of tequila......and gotten change back...

OH!! and they left use 4 SPAM messages a day on our phone...about buying timeshares from them.........I wouldn't live in that [---] if they gave it to me..........
