“Overpriced”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 2, 2013

This restaurant did not look like a fancy place from the outside, more of a small local island feel, but the prices were shocking. Menu had some selection of fish, shrimp, but main specialty is the conch. The conch soup was delicious, but the conch dinner plates were less impressive. Be aware that they also charge for water $5.00 per cup, which we did not know. May have ordered soda or beer if we'd known. Also they automatically included tip in the bill, which was unusual for a party of 3.

“'Blech' with a side order of 'holy crap that's expensive!"”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 21, 2013

Worst potato skins I ever had (dried and crusty) Waitress admits the conch soup is not made fresh every day (eeewww) the steak was supposed to be medium it was well and swimming in some sort of soupy stuff and well, that was NOT a strip loin.

The veg looked like it came out of a can.

Sorry folks, don't usually thumbs down a restaurant but this one is not good and grossly overpriced. Also no air conditioning (not that we cared) but definitely not cool enough even with fans. The waitress was nice though.

“You have to stop here!”

If you blink, you might miss it. This Marathon jem is on Overseas Highway in Marathon (near the Home Depot). The food is super fresh and delish. Their conch fritters and killer and the homemade key lime ceasar salad dressing is the best dressing we have ever tasted! Service is great... I believe it's family owned and you can tell that they love their customers. It's not a fancy place at all.... but it is the best food in Marathon! A Vacation Kitty favorite!!!!!

“So So Food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 18, 2013

While on family vacation the week before Mother's Day we ate at this restaurant. We were expecting cafe prices but that wasn't so. Much higher than that. Server was ok. Had to flag her down to get refills on water & sodas. Don't like it when a restaurant adds the tip to your bill. If you have 6 or more diners the tip was even more. I will tip a server much more when I can decide how much to give but, when an establishment adds it to the tab automatically, I don't like that. The guy cleaning tables & wrapping silverware was more attentive than the server. When he saw that someone was finished eating, he would ask if you were done eating & take the plate out of your way. Very pleasant gentleman!

“Destination every time.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 14, 2013

We have been going to the Cracked Conch for several years. This year it was as usual good food and the waitress was very nice. She brought us a little sample of conch ceviche because we were talking about trying it. It was good but we had already order Mahi Mahi sandwiched. My son's was blackened but I went for the grilled. Both were great. It is an older restaurant and from all the use it gets it does look a little worn but the food is great always and we have never had a bad waitress. Can not wait until I get to go again.
