What a lovely setting and view. But the staff .... not so much. We were charged over $400 for services that were never discussed with us. The room service was spotty through the week and nosey in our belongings when they were there. The staff entered our room unannounced and this was the office staff. Not a professional environment. And now they wont return our phone calls.

Room Tip: No room is guaranteed unless you book with the unit owner

This is a very nice property on the water. There is a great view of the seven mile bridge. It has a small marina, hot tub and pool. The pool and hot tub overlook the Atlantic. There is no beach on the property. There are lots of them quite close to the property. The two bedroom condo is roomy and well decorated. The kitchen is fairly well stocked and easy to get around. The property is on the south end of Marathon. There is only parking for one car on property, There is overflow parking for boats and cars by the tennis courts. There are no restaurants on property. There are so many choices for eating real close, it really does not matter.

Marathon gives you access to both ends of the Keys, It is very centrally located and makes it easy to get anywhere. I would recommend this place for any type of family or friends.

Room Tip: When arriving from the north, make sure you make your left turn before you end up going over the seven mile bridge and coming back another seven miles.. Try to get an end room as they have a larger lanai. This is a time share property so book early.

I have been staying at the Hawks Nest for many years. The condo is very centrally located in the Keys so you are never far from whatever you choose to do. Staff is always helpful, maids are very friendly and efficient. Laundry on site. The best thing....the pool!!! Overlooking the Atlantic and the Seven Mile bridge is awesome. It is most refreshing. I don't know how it stays so cool in the Florida Keys heat but it does. Beautiful tiki huts, pavilion for larger gatherings, great game room for the kids. Bicycles etc etc. I could go on and on. Just love it. Very relaxing atmosphere.

This is a time share and I stayed here last May. I enjoyed the 2 bedroom condo. however it was a little dated . The pool area was clean and inviting. This had a view of the 7 mile bridge and the sunsets each night were breath taking . It is set on a sea wall so there is no beach but they are just minutes away. Sunset Grill is a minute away walking . They have great food and outdoor seating
with a pool included !

Room Tip: choose one facing the bridge

This began as a visit to friends who have a partial ownership (something a bit more formal than a timeshare.) The 2 1/2 ride from MIA airport was something I was dreading. The first 20 minutes of that trip were the worst, with snarls all around the airport and through Miami.

But after that, it was a if the skies opened. The beauty of the Route 1, called "The Overseas Highway", simply could not be described. If you have never taken this ride, try to get the History Channel's program and watch it before you go.

We were fortunate to stay with friends in their unit, which was on the side facing Seven Mile Bridge. I am NOT including a photo because no photo could do it justice. The sunsets were beyond description.

WHAT IT IS NOT. It is NOT a luxury resort with concierge service and waiters bringing cocktails.

WHAT IT IS. Think of renting an apartment for a week and planning every fantastic thing you ever dreamed possible in the Florida Keys. If you feel the need for "action" Key West is only about an hour away. Or you can just vegetate in your unit, preparing meals in the reasonably well-appointed kitchens and resting as much (or as little) as you heart desires.

The rooms are serviced (I think) every other day. I was enjoying it all too much to notice. We went for fancy (and way less expensive) lunches at all the famous places and then had family style dinners in the unit each night.

The property has a pool and hot tub, plus whatever other facilities you might need. You can arrange just about anything your heart desires.

I can't wait until we go back again.

Room Tip: I think the units with the sunset views are called "Ocean Side." These are spectacular.
