Cannot thank the resorts staff each and every one. They were friendly , kind , and helpful .
The units were clean and comfortable. The view was georgous . Sunsets every night behind the
7 mile bridge. Don't forget to visit Burdines for their famous fries and burgers. We also had a
wonderful meal at Annetts. Thanks to Jay and the manager there we had an awesome stay !!!!!

Room Tip: Stayed in a corner room facing the ocean. The center rooms were also spacious .

We tried to find a suitable timeshare exchange through RCI, but when that didn't happen we rented a two br, 2 bath corner unit on the 3rd floor at Hawk's Nest Resort. It's in a convenient location and yet off the main road which makes it convenient and fairly quiet. A boat ramp is next door and I enjoyed watching the boats coming and going. There is no beach here but the pool and ocean views satisfied me. The resort is really almost on the water.

This is an older resort, built about 40 years ago we were told and it shows its age but the unit had all we needed. Management was courteous and helpful. The resort has two very nice, well kept up gas grills. They looked new to me. I grilled a steak for dinner one night and met others there grilling fish.

Both owners and renters received maid service most days (not Sun. or Thurs.). From my experience, this is not common for timeshares. Some have no service and some others have a mid week touch up kind of cleaning. Recently some resort info explains you that you've received "starter packages" of soap, toilet paper, garbage bags, dishwasher detergent", etc. but you will need to purchase more if necessary. This was not true here. There was a large pile of dishwasher packets and garbage bags in the unit. The maid brought plenty of bath soap each time she serviced the unit. These small touches simply made for a more relaxing vacation.

If we choose to drive down to the keys again, we will certainly try to rent at Hawk's Nest. It's a timeshare resort available through II, at this writing.

I agree that it's strange to have to pay for the untilites for the unit. I've never come across that situation until now. Our utilities bill was about $64 for the week. However, we knew about that charge when we reserved the unit, so there were no unhappy surprises at check out time.

Room Tip: The corner units let in more sun with generous ocean views. The balcony can be accessed through two...

We have been staying at Hawk's Nest once a year for about 15 years now and love the location. The property itself has continued to evolve and make improvements, but keep in mind this is an older building. There are one and two bedroom units for rent or if you prefer, you can buy your week as part of the time share...which is what we did many years ago. The units are comfortable, but be sure to bring your favorite pillow as well as an egg crate, foam insert or something to go on top of the mattress as the mattresses are rock hard. The two bedroom units sleep up to 8 - one room with a king bed, one room with two twins and a pull out sofa. The one bedroom units sleep up to 4 - king bedroom and a pull out sofa. The oceanview units are well worth the extra, but are only available in the 2 bedroom size - all the one bedrooms overlook the parking lot.

There is a great restaurant and bar walking distance from the property, Sunset Grill as well as several other options just a short car ride away. Parking is free at the property and each unit has one assigned spot and there are 3 guest spots. Tennis courts are available just a block away which is also where you park your boat trailer, if you have one. Boat trailer is also complimentary. Hawks Nest does have a small fishing dock as well as bigger dock to pull your boat up, but this is only for loading and unloading. The closest marina to dock your boat overnight is Seven Mile Marina - very nice staff and easy location.

Other amenities at the property: large pool, hot tub, sun loungers and tiki huts for shade, ping-pong table, pool table, lockers for fishing poles or dive gear (bring your own lock) and a fish cleaning table on the boat dock. All units have fully equipped kitchens and full size refrigerators.

Overall, a vacation at Hawk's Nest is a great place to experience the Keys - whether you like to lay by the pool, fish, scuba dive or any other activity the Keys are known for. You will have all the comforts of home at Hawk's Nest.

Room Tip: Be sure to book a unit with an Oceanview - it's worth the few extra dollars!

We come every year for two weeks during the end of Feb./beginning of March. Our kids love it and we always have a great time. This year I had to leave in the middle of our vacation for a family emergency and the new manager, Mike, was really helpful with printing out a boarding pass for me, directions, etc. and just going the extra mile to help out with the situation - cannot thank him enough!!!

Timeshare exchange to Hawk's Nest for week. Very good location, beautiful sunset views. Pool heater was broken for first half of week; enjoyed pool after it was repaired. Very quiet place, neat and clean. Looks like units are slowly being updated, There is a TV in the 2nd bedroom but it isn't hooked up to cable. Found that strange. Management was very pleasant and went out of their way to accommodate us.
