“To experience a TRUE feel of the Florida Keys Rainbow Bend is a MUST stay”

I am not one to place reviews. When I find a gem, normally I will tell only close friends or keep to within family. Our second stay at Rainbow Bend, however,I find it only fair to their excellent staff to pass this on. If you are seeking a vacation to the Florida Keys to find the true feeling of lifestyle and you enjoy a quite, relaxing, love fishing, and great eating........this place is a MUST visit.

My family really enjoyed our stay at Rainbow Bend. Nice rooms and friendly people. Frank, from the hotel restaurant, taught us everything we needed to know about coconuts. We hope to visit again.

Don't miss Rainbow Bend Fishing Resort on Grassy Key - Marathon in the Florida Keys. So much more than a fishing resort....but the free boats were a great advantage when we fished or snorkeled each day! The resort was very relaxed, low key, clean, and charming. The view of the ocean was hypnotic and the staff from check in to check out were so friendly and helpful. We were hidden away, yet just a short few minutes from everything we wanted to see and do - wilderness, parks, town, marinas, dolphins, turtles, an airport, Atlantic Ocean, Gulf of Mexico and so much more. Food was excellent at the Hideaway Cafe! The pool area had a great view of the ocean, too.

The staff was friendly and helpful whenever you needed them!

We will go back to this great spot and will recommend it to friends and family. You will enjoy the hospitality!

A small motel at MM 58 on Grassy Key, a stones throw to Marathon, the center of the Keys. For divers and fishers, the complimentary use of their fleet of Boston Whalers makes Rainbow Bend the best value in the keys. Considering that anywhere you look, a half day rental for a boat would be about $180+, I figured the cost of our stay was about $15 per night for a room. The rooms are clean, the restaurant had an excellent fare, and it is an ear shot to Marathon for other options: dive/fishing gear, shopping, night life and the like. Step out of the room, walk across the beach, board your boat with your dive or fishing gear and you're on the water. While change tends to spoil things, this place really has remained what the Keys have traditionally been about---A beautiful place to stay on the aqua-blue waters.

We went the week after Labor day. Rooms are not clean the smell badly and are very worn. This is not a place for kids either the clientele is not the best. The lady at the front desk said"well that's the way it is in the keys" Bologna! We both are pilots and travel frequently to the keys. We stayed another night two days later at Hawks Cay resort and the then theMarriott on the bay at Key West. These were both super deluxe properties that were the same price as the Rainbow Bend $149.00 What rainbow bend needs is a powerwasher and paint. Some serious TLC It is right on the water but it is not a beach

The resort is small and quaint, qualities you can't find in many of the newer/bigger resorts. All of the resort staff are helpful, accommodating, and friendly. The restaurant is top-notch. We've been there several times before, and will definitely go again. It's definitely worth the money, especially since the prices are certainly competitive.

We've already recommended Rainbow Bend to several of our friends.

There are a few things that could be upgraded/repaired, but it doesn't take away from the unique experience.

We traveled to Rainbow Bend for a much needed vacation where we could decompress from work and enjoy the water with our young son. I read some of the reviews and found them mostly positive - I now see that wherever anyone wrote something negative, they came with too many expectations of a fancy hotel stay and they were unfortunately disappointed. We, however, could not have been more pleased with our stay at Rainbow Bend.

We stayed for four days in a room with a balcony that overlooked the ocean - the view was spectacular with a sunrise each morning and swaying of palm trees in the breeze. There is also a nature preserve nearby which brought an array of birds that were pretty to see on and in the water. The room was very clean (I have no idea what people are talking about when they say a room was dirty - ours was spotless). The beds and pillows were extremely comfortable. We had a full kitchen too which we took advantage of by stocking up on supplies for the days at the nearby grocery store and having everything handy. We ate breakfast each day at the Hideaway Cafe, where we were brightly greeted by Laurie, so kind and friendly. The food was excellent and filling. We also ate dinner there one night, and the service and food were top-notch. Well worth it.

The price of the room includes use of a boat for 4 hours - we fully enjoyed that! One of the best things about this trip was how helpful the staff was in preparing us for our daily fishing trips. Karl and Tony were so very nice, conversational and helpful, always wanting to know whether we were able to catch fish and giving us all kinds of tips on fishing in the Keys. My son, who is 10 years old, especially loved these fishing adventures, and fishing has become his new passion. He ended up catching 12 fish on this trip! He was even able to use a fishing pole right off the dock, where he caught 2 fish. I was appreciative of how even after the first day, Karl, Tony, and Laurie in the Cafe, all knew us and greeted us cheerily by name. They were all just wonderful and made the stay special.

The pool was super refreshing after fishing in the morning - it was kept clean at all times, and being able to swim under the swaying palm trees, and then just looking out over the ocean, was a really peaceful time. We also had a lot of fun playing chess with the "life-size" board - just being able to do that with the ocean right next to you was a special experience.

It is true that if you are expecting a fancy place, hotel with hair dryer and soaps, etc., this is not the place. But if you are looking for a warm, relaxing and peaceful place that is both rustic and charming, then you will love Rainbow Bend. For us it was just perfect. We were truly sad when it came time to go. It was everything we hoped our vacation would be and more.
