Old musty rooms where nothing works. They refused to give refund my money as I knew I could go fo the road to lime tree & get 3 bed townhouse for $9 more! So switched me to another "better" room with cold hot tub microwave & tv that don't work. Plus "free" breakfast is awful & have to wait a long time for weak coffee white toast with egg about 5 pcs heavily salted potato pcs & 2 pcs bacon. Much better places elsewhere I can't believe all good reviews I read because two tries here utterly disgusted.

We have stayed at the resort during our last 2 vacations in the keys and have loved it! The staff is very friendly and the breakfast is delicious! It's nice to have a gourmet restaurant. A great way to start the day overlooking the ocean. The kids enjoyed going fishing everyday in the free use of the motor boats and swimming in the pool. It is a great place to relax! We have talked about trying out other resorts, but have decided we love it there too much, so we are headed back in June. :-)

Came down from Palm Beach and stayed at Rainbow Bend January 3-6. Had the most amazing time and wished we could have stayed longer. From the concierge to the restaurant to the dock hands and cleaning crew, the staff was very helpful and could not be nicer. The boats were great for us as we did a lot of fishing and diving. Zero complaints and can't wait to go back to Rainbow Bend!

We stayed in Marathon a year ago and drove by and saw this place on our way out of town. We decided to stay on our next trip in Dec 2012/Jan 2013 and we were delighted with everything. We loved the boats and used them every day for sightseeing, bird watching, dolphin watching. Even caught our fish for dinner. Thanks to Bobby for the tips and bait and on-site license purchase. The breakfast that was included was a treat and the french toast is the best!!! Thanks to Billy for the extra condiments. The dinner at Hideaway was so good we were upset to have saved it for the last night. We already booked our Dec 2013/Jan 2014 trip and plan to eat in the restaurant every night. The hotel staff was wonderful - George let us check in early. Nikki and Sonya got us everything we forgot to bring. We sat in the grounds every night and enjoyed the breeze, full moon and wonderful water views. The hot tub is an extra bonus. We can't say enough good things about this lovely little piece of heaven. See you in Dec 2013.

When it was time to recharge, we fortunately found Rainbow Bend Resort. Initally we were attracted by the free boats being boaters.

Once we arrived we felt we had time travelled to the Keys of yesteryear. This quaint, small, cozy property with multiple styles of accomodations and a truly gourmet restaurant turned out to be the closest thing to paradise for us.

We live in Miami,on the water but found this ocean front jewel to be the perfect retreat from the big city. It is clean and neat and the staff is exceptionally friendly. If you want peace and relaxation at a moderate price we, personally, recommend it highly.

When it came time to take a 50th birthday trip my wife asked where I wanted to go for the long weekend. Of course it was the Keys and specifically Rainbow Bend. It is my ideal "Middle Keysy" experience, and I have been here many times. It's right on the oceanside with an eye towards the horizon.

Rainbow Bend is NOT a four-star large-scale resort hotel (or the fancy price). The rooms and suites are clean and efficient and there are many different configurations to suit your lodging needs, most of which I have tried. The grounds are comfy and cozy, with the accomodations arranged somewhat like a tiny neighborhood. The shoreline is typically keys, with a soft marly bottom and sargasso along it (This is Grassy Key, after all). Natural sandy beaches are rare in the Keys, and there is not one at Rainbow Bend. But there is plenty of blue water and a dockful of boats, so hop in one of the 15'-17' Whaler skiffs with the help of the dock staff and the whole gamut of Keys marine experiences open up. A 50' Hatteras it ain't, but if it's not real windy you can get out to the reef, or down to the sandbar, or up towards Duck Key. Then hop back out and just walk away to have a cold one at the dock, or the pool, or on the sandy grounds. It's close by to Marathon, just west of Islamorada, and a day trip away to Key West.

Its the kind of place where you get out of it what you put in. When I have an activity in mind the answer from the staff is always "yes", "sure", or "we can do that". In the past they have accomodated my own boat as dock space was available, let me windsurf off the shore and keep my rig on the grounds, or held pre-shipped fishing gear for me. And don't underestimate the value of a daily prepared breakfast to start off right.

We decided to return to Rainbow Bend Resort, where we spent our honeymoon and several other trips, on our 20th wedding anniversary. When I booked the room and said we were coming back for our anniversary, they upgraded our room to one directly on the beach. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The boats are old, but serviceable (same boats as 20 years ago, but newer motors). The rooms are rustic, but like the boats are serviceable. We had a great time and plan to go back again for our 40th (or sooner, if we can).
