“7 mile Bridge”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 19, 2014

The drive to Key West is a very beautiful trip. Especially the seven mile bridge. I have awesome pictures of the sunset with the bridge in the background. It is hard to believe this started out as a railroad bridge. Would have been an awesome train ride.

“Walk, jog or bike”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 17, 2014

This is a section of Flagler's original bridge that is open to walk, jog or bike on out to Pigeon Key. Pigeon Key is where Flagler had a base camp for the workers. Most of the original buildings are still in place and for a fee you can tour them.

But the bridge is free. Be certain to keep an eye out for dolphins playing as well as for huge turtles. We have spotted both on different trips out and back.

Remember that it will be cooler on the bridge and plan your dress accordingly. Many people also bring something to drink out with them. It can be a hot journey when the sun is beating down early in the afternoon.

There is a Seven Mile Bridge association which sells books, a great folding grocery tote bag (my fav of all that we have) as well as tee shirts. This group is working to keep the bridge repaired and to enhance the area around it.

“Awesome view!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 17, 2014

Seven Mile Bridge is a great bridge! The road was in good shape, several pull off points, beautiful view. It's a two lane bridge, so you might get behind someone going slow, but it will get you where you're going!

“7 Mile Bridge”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 14, 2014

WOW! To drive on a bridge 7 miles long separating the Atlantic Ocean from the Gulf of Mexico. WOW! I was driving a motorhome so I had great views of the water and also the railroad bridge built in 1912. I've heard about this bridge for years and finally crossed on it!
