Absolutely breathtaking! We drove from Marathon down to Key West in the morning. Drove back in the evening and were able to watch the sunset from the bridge. Beautiful!!

Halfway down the Keys is the 7 Mile Bridge. Just driving it is wonderful, almost like taking a cruise with nothing but open ocean around you. Views at sunrise and sunset are spectacular. This is the new bridge and parts of the old bridge have been saved. If you have time park the car and walk out over the open ocean. We saw all manner of fish including gar fish as well as sea turtles and a few large manta rays. Even if you're staying in the upper keys and don't plan to drive to Key West take the drive to this modern marvel and enjoy.

We walked the 2 miles of the Old Seven Mile Bridge - 4 miles roundtrip - and it was one of the highlights of our trip to the Keys. We saw at least 10 loggerhead turtles make their way to the surface as they came up for air. One Southern Ray also jumped out of the water. There was lots of birdlife on the walk - pelicans, egrets, seagulls, terns. THere are also some resident green iguanas at the start of the walk. What a treasure to still have this old section of the seven mile bridge to be used as a walking or biking path. Don't miss it!
