Review of Sombrero Beach

We visited at the suggestion of a friend while in the area. Knowing that the beaches in the Keys aren't like beaches in Northern Florida, we were pleasantly surprised with Sombrero Beach. It appears that the beach and the facilites were newly updated. Walks and picnic areas are clean and neat. Public restrooms were spotless and smelled like they were just cleaned.

Parking was available and seemd adequate. Publix was nearby for snacks.

Nice!

The beach was nice and clean. The sea grass, which is a sign that the water is healthy and alive, is present but there is an area near the waters edge that does not have grass. Free parking, with bathroom faciliies, you can't ask for more than that! Just make sure you take some food and drinks as there aren't any food vendors.

This beach was not enjoyable for my family. There is so much seaweed and very little beach. Total bust for a beach. They have a nice playground and bathroom facilities that made the trip tolerable.

There are not many beaches in the keys and most of them are state parks with admission. This one you can just drive to, park and stay as long as you want. Great place for sunsets too.
