“One of the few beaches in the Keys”
Reviewed January 19, 2013

Nice little beach, clean and well maintained, except for the sea weed. The Keys are not beachy, and the coral beneath the sand is sharp! This is a nice beach, but probably has to have sand brought in to maintain it. The waves wash the sand off the coral and if you walk out very far you may find sharp edges under your feet. Stay up on the bank if you want to lay out, or the kids want to dig in the sand. The park area is nice, well laid out, and maintained. If you are looking for a beach on Marathon Key, this is one of the few available.

Our toddler loved the playground! Small beach but very beautiful. Nice white sand and turquoise water.

“One of The Best Beaches In The Keys”
Reviewed January 18, 2013

Sombrero beach is everything you need to spend a great day at the beach. It has bathrooms that are super clean. It has outdoor showers, pavillions and grills.....and the water fountains serve up "cold" water, something difficult to find in The Keys. There is a playground for the little kids, and volley ball for the big kids. You can certainly tell the City of Marathon is proud of this beach by the way it is maintained.

“Perfect small beach.”
Reviewed January 17, 2013

My husband and i got married on the pier at sombrero beach so this is a special place for us and we love it. Relatively small, quiet beach. The water is clean and refreshing. The restrooms are clean and large enough. The whole park seems to be well tended. Take a book and a chair and relax for a few hours. Perfect!

“A nice beach for the Keys.”
Reviewed January 13, 2013

Honestly, we were not aware that there weren't beaches like a typical beach along a coastline, so we were disappointed in general. We researched the heck out of where to get an actual beach experience in the area so we went here. The water was typical for there with so much seaweed that you can't really swim and there was some dead seaweed on the beach so we set up away from that. It was a good place to relax and enjoy the view. The park and facilities were nice and clean.
