Okay, here's the scoop...there's nothing wrong with this place. If you are expecting world class luxuries and servants, go to a fancy resort. This is not a fancy resort. This is a laid back, relaxing, quiet place to get away from your normal life. At least it was to me. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and so did my companion. We will be returning there next year and plan to stay here each time we visit Marathon. The room was sparkling clean, the linens fresh, had all the modern coveniences AND she provided extra vellux blankets and two extra pillows. You can't even get that in the Hilton without asking for it. You are RIGHT on the beach and the sunrise is priceless. Beautiful.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 3A. Private little porch, second floor, great view.

It was one of the cheapest @$150/night incl. taxes. I got what I paid for. Looked better on the internet pics than it actually was. Pics are deceiving. Looks like it was an old apt. facility at one time. Very old and run down. Room was dirty and needed alot of interior upgrades. Obviously the owner doesn't take a lot of pride in what they offer at this price. But it was one of the cheapest around. King bed was very hard and the sheets didn't fit the bed. Felt like the bed was short sheeted.

Room Tip: No recommendation other than to find a different hotel to stay. Don't let the pictures deceive y...

A very pleasant place to stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout. An unfortunate outbreak of some type of bugs coming from the skirting boards could put some customers off.
Long term road works going on just outside the main entrance did not spoil our stay

We stayed here on our way to KeyWest , The room was on the 1st floor and had a very good sea view as it was ocean facing.
The room was clean but definitely showing signs of age. Could do with a spruce up.
Nothing very close by (except the wonderful view)

Seashell Beach Resort is more of a Quaint older Beach Cottage than a resort. We had a two bedroom condo, with a separate hotel room that could be connected- Rooms 10 and 10A. This was perfect for our extended family of 7. The beds were King size and comfortable with very fluffy pillows. The kitchen was sufficient, as was our living area. Each bedroom had a separate window air conditioner, plus a fan over the bed. The view from the front facing bedroom was amazing, and all the rooms had large windows. They had plenty of beach chairs for everyone, a dock, kayaks to use free of charge, and the staff was very accommodating and helpful. Because it is a small place, they close the check-in desk in the evenings, so call ahead if you will be arriving late.

Room Tip: Room 10 had one bedroom with a king size bed with huge picture windows looking out over the ocean.

This is a lovely location but the owner hasn't sunk a dime in the place in years. It is quite rundown. Everything was a little worn. I imagine that they don't expect guests to spend much time in the room. Some things were crooked, some had a little rust, most of it in need of an update. I would recommend paying more and getting more than this little Ma and Pa operation can offer. It was clean and with easy striking distance of Key West and other attractions but they are living on past laurels as is most of the Keys. Go with a brand name in the Keys and you will be happier.

The Seashell is a quaint little place to relax in the keys. I found it very affordable. It is just off the highway and little hard to spot! We missed the driveway several times. The room was clean and simple. Nothing extravagant but it did have a little kitchen. There is a little self serve coffee station outside but we did not know it was there until we checked out. What we enjoyed the most was having the private ocean area just steps away from our door. There were several hammocks, and private dock. We didn't swim, but we did a lot of wading and picking up coconuts. I wished we could have stayed longer. If you are new to visiting the area (as we were !) be warned and prepaired for the of the tiny little biting bugs! I was glad I had bug spray!

All in all, I would recommend this place as a good BUDGET accommodation and I would stay again.
