Do not believe any single good review of this place. My friends Brad Gandy and Jackie Garabedian booked the Seashell in late May 2012. It was so awful that we decided to stay at the Holiday Inn. The photo of the pier and water that they have on hotels.com is misleading and obviously dated. The room we saw was old and dirty. The front desk would not work with us as the three night stay was booked through hotels.com The Seashell didn't care about how we felt which is why I am happy that they didn't collect a penny as the bank easily blocked the transaction, although it took almost 3 days to be resolved. Their rooms are worth(less) than $30 a night in our opinion. Seashell Beach Resort is a dump that should be avoided at all costs.

Room Tip: Avoid The Seashell Beach Resort (dump) at all costs!

The place is cheap, so that is nice. The stree is right there- ocean is right in back!! The hamock in back is very cheap (I, almost broke it. I fell through the bottom.) Our neghbors were nice and loved my poodle, Miley. I wish it had a continental breakfast. Not much else for me to say it was fine but NOT a resort.

Room Tip: The down-stair rooms are WONDERFUL!!!!! And the top floors have a nice view. :)

Nice, cheap Hotel on the way to Key West.
Good for a 1- or 2-day stay. For a longer stay... the street is
to near by... except you have an ocean front-room!

We really enjoyed the place. People who are looking for opulence need to look elsewhere. this is a 1950's era no frills resort. Our rooms (#1 for 3 nights and #7 for one night (we extended our stay)), were clean with equipped kitchens and cold air conditioning. Two grocery stores are 8 miles away on Hwy 1. We loaded up on eats and cooked for ourselves. Both of our rooms had unobstructed ocean views and plenty of peace and quiet.

The staff were accommodating and friendly. The front office manager was very nice. They leave your room key in an envelope in a box for guests arriving after 6pm. Check in time is 3pm, checkout at 11am. There's a sign that lists extra fees for early/late check in/out times. We moved from room #1 to room #7 and were given the key at 11:15 with no fee.

The property is well kept and reasonably up to date. Staff were painting the outside of our building while we were hanging out in the sun. All rooms have digital cable and there's free wireless internet access worked in both rooms which were on opposite sides of the property.

We would definitely recommend this property to others and will likely stay here again if we find ourselves in the Keys.

Room Tip: Room 1 had two beds in separate areas. No doors, but a bit of privacy if two couples are sharing the room or for parents who have kids.

En route to this hotel, I read the reviews. Wish I'd read them carefully before made reservations! About all that I can say that's positive is that the couple in the room next to us we're great! We were all hanging out on the beach and the balcony because the LAST place you'd want to be is the room. Peeling paint, plastic chairs, a toilet that had to be flushed five times before it was empty, a shower that we discovered (in the morning) didn't work. It isn't often that I feel compelled to check for bedbugs, but I did here. Oh, and the tide was so far out that all Bill could fish in was a big mud flat. Way overpriced for what you don't get.
