We had an awesome time in Marathon and thoroughly enjoyed our experience with Keys Kayaks. Sofia was our guide for a group of about 10. She was very knowledgeable and had a great personality. Seems to really care about the environment too. This was our first adventure into the mangroves and it was amazing. Highly recommend this tour! Don't miss this one.

A group of 7 of us signed up for the tour. We were told no more than 10 people would be in our group. There was 14 people on the tour. We had three things happen that affected this review.

1. Sophia left her memory card for her camera at home and sent her boyfriend to retrieve it, so she was left alone to manage 14 people who had varying skills of paddling.

2. One of our group members was a dad with two children. Dad and youngest were in a tandem kayak and teen was in her own kayak. The teen struggled kayaking and our guide did an excellent job of helping her get started, but once we hit the mangroves, our guide was in the front. The teens dad appeared clueless that his child was struggling and stayed up front near the guide. We were left to help the young lady, who got stuck multiple times in the groves. So here I am trying to enjoy my trip while babysitting a strangers kid!

3. Because of our large size and the fact that we got farther behind trying to help the young girl, we heard almost NOTHING of anything said in the mangroves. 14 people was too many for ONE guide to manage on her own. And 14 people puts you too spread out to hear anything if the guide is more towards the front and you are in the back.

Eventually the boyfriend came back with the needed memory chip for the camera, but tour was over half way done.

I will say this, I think this outfit probably does an excellent job. We payed the money for the Eco Tour and what parts we DID hear were great. But we missed much of it for having to help a stranger (I didn't mind, but geesh, the girl's dad was on the trip!!!!) and we were too far separated in the mangroves to hear everything being said. If you book the trip, ask for a guarantee for what the maximum people will be in your group.

We went on this trip November 3rd and it was really windy so the visibility in the water wasn't great, but Sophia was wonderful!! She was able to make conversation with everyone in our group and was very knowledgeable of the mangroves! I would definitely do this again, it was a great workout and it was a fun experience!

We had a wonderful time at Keys Kayaks. Sofia was our guide and she was very friendly, knowledgeable and environmentally conscience. I have never experienced anything quiet like our tour through the mangroves! Would recommend this shop to anybody!
