This was our 3rd trip to the Hammocks and we were pleased to see that the Tiki bar now has full alcohol licence rather than just beer & Wine, They now also recycle paper, glass & Plastic and have updated the TV's in most rooms. This time because of our points, we stayed in a 2 bedroom 2 nights and in a 1 bedroom ( with 2 double beds) for 4 nights. The 2 bedroom overlooked the pool & tiki bar and just the two of us felt a little lost in it plus the maste bedroom had a window that looked out in the main hall...dumb Idea. You had to keep the drapes closed all the time for privacy and it let so much light in that the 2nd night we went into the other room with twin beds. Otherwise it was a nice room with large flat screen TV's in every room. The 1 bedroom was in the "Old" part of building on the back side away from the ocean ..At first I was let down by the lack of view but then I found out that the balcony got afternoon sun and was protected from the chilly wind ( we were there during a cold spell ( Mid 60's). This turned out to be perfect for getting about 2 hrs of sun each day as it was too cool to be at beach or by the pool. The Kitchen was perfect for our needs, and having the dishwasher made life more enjoyable. The little things like free soap for doing wash ( machines also free) and free printing of Internet pages made it more welcoming also. They also took care of short notice reservations for Valentines day which saved us about an hours wait on Sunday!
All in all it's a great little place if you realize it is not a grand resort. The only complaint I have is that the water in showers is more warm than hot ...but if you get a sunburn that is not a problen as you do NOT want HOT!

Wow: this is a small property off the main road tucked back by the water. It really is beautiful: like the name suggest there are 3 hammocks along the property: 2 at the water's edge and 1 at the "beach". It is an absolutely beautiful place to relax and get away. We had an waterfront room that was very, very, nice: nicely appointed with nice little extras. The bed is soo very comforable. The only complaint is that the room is right by the Tiki Bar and the music went on late into the night: but who cares we are in the Florida Keys. There is a nice size swimming pool. There is a "beach" but it isn't much and there was a sail boat moored to the area so that didn't leave any room to enjoy the water. The only disappointment was the front office staff: unhelpful to sum it up without going into details. But everything about this property is very nice and the price is reasonably too. ENJOY!!

We spent 2 weeks at the Marathon. Because we had limited points to use up, we stayed in a variety of rooms - studio, then one bed, then ocean view one bed so can review different types...

General comments - staff were lovely, very sincere and friendly but not overly so in a non-sincere manner so that was refreshing. Rooms were clean and comfortable, pool not huge but was empty most of the time so not an issue. Liked the iguanas around the pool area, not so great when they poop but staff cleaned up quickly and it's hardly something you can control. Loved the fact that you can wander about and spot marine life off the jetty, saw 4 rays, spiny lobster, tarpon and lots of other little fish, and of course pelicans and various heron.

Rooms - studio. Fine, but they gave us crockery and cutlery and glasses but nowhere to clean them except the bathroom sink which is just so wrong. When we moved out of this room, I mentioned it to Patty and she said we should have been told to get housekeeping to take away the dirty stuff each day. Oh well. They should have a note in the room to tell you this, instead of leaving a sponge and detergent which sends out the wrong message.

One bed - great, wonderful to have a kitchen! Lounge area spacious, no complaints there. Had room overlooking coastguard so could be woken up by them. Actually didn't know what that was the first morning, and couldn't make out what they were saying. But it wasn't any big deal. Actually, when we moved to the ocean view room I found the noise from the bar more annoying one night, they did have a thing on but it just seemed to go on, and on, and on. Some woman still screeching her head off at midnight which was annoying. Only real issue with all rooms was the power of the water in the shower. I have thick hair and this took a long time to wash, but more annoying was that the water never seemed particularly hot, expecially so in the mornings.

They also have laundry facilities on every floor which is great. Wish they did more on the recycling front. They should offer to recycle plastic too, not just paper and glass.

Overall, pluses far outweighed the minuses and we enjoyed our stay there. Definitely planning on coming back.

The staff at the Hammocks were very helpful, pleasant, and wanted to make very sure we were comfortable during our stay. The Tiki Bar and pool area had great food and service. At the Tiki bar, Julie Hopkins made us feel right at home with her smile, conversation, and suggestions for things to do and service. She was very pleasant and helpful. The food was great and Paul's preparation of the pasta dishes at Pastabilities were excellent. Patty and Precious at the front desk were very friendly and made us feel like we were VIP guests.

If a resort were to make its patrons as part of a family, it is the Hammocks.

A special thank you,
Ben Bibbo and Diann Detro

We spent one night here after attending Fantasy Fest in Key West as it was the closest decent accommodation to Key West that we could find (45 miles north of Key West) as KW hotels have 5 night minimum during Fantasy Fest. The resort is beautifully located; the rooms are very nice with flat screen tv's, adequate bathrooms, nice kitchenettes etc. You can get food at the Tiki Bar but the service is terribly slow - well over an hour for breakfast and the poor waitress is run off her feet but keeps a good attitude. Food was good once it arrived but two complaints. The breakfast entrees come with free coffee but my husband and I don't drink coffee. When we asked if we could swap them out for a soda instead, the answer was a resounding no! Also, the toast with our breakfast entrees came dry not buttered. When we asked the chef (who had to deliver our meals because the waitress was run off her feet) if we could please have some butter and jelly, he looked at us as if we were asking for the moon! Ten minutes later he came back with a small plastic cup of liquified butter for us to pour on our toast and some jelly that looked like it was well past its sell by date! That was all very bizarre we felt. We have never had breakfast at any restaurant where they couldn't provide butter or margarine and jelly! My husband was not impressed. However we tried to focus on the lovely views, the birdlife in abundance and the boating activity and not let it bother us too much - after all it was just toast! The other problem is that the music played at the Tiki bar which is next to the pool area is very loud and if you are not an R & B fan (which we are not) the radio station is a bit whiny and annoying! After the breakfast period which runs until 11 a.m. - the music was cranked up even louder. This meant that everyone relaxing around the pool (mainly adults but also 6 kids) had to start speaking very loudly to hear each other speak. Since it was impossible to read my book with all this noise going on, at this point, we left and drove home to Miami. If loud music doesn't bother you, then you'll enjoy the facilities but we wanted peace and quiet after the craziness of Fantasy Fest and just wanted to chill out for the morning after we checked out of the hotel (early check out 10 a.m.) and there was none! Resort is very nice but these issues would stop me personally from returning but I would recommend it to friends of mine who are not as fussy as me about noise levels!

This resort was the first I have stayed in as a new Bluegreen owner and I have to say that I adored it. The room was more spacious than we expected and was very clean. The full fridge and mini-kitchen came in very handy for saving money on meals. The resort has a great little bar right on the Bay where I had the best blackend mahi salad I have eaten in the keys and I go every year and try mahi every place I eat. The staff was all very friendly and helpful. The only bad part I could find is that you must pay for wireless internet. This is very annoying as you can stay at the Ramada for $59 dollars and get free wi-fi. I expected more from a 'resort' in that aspect. Overall though this is a great place to stay.

Relaxing and laid back. Not much going on for the late night party crowd but plenty to do in the daytime and early evening. Well kept, good service.
