Salty's was a favorite water hole - Yes, someday's we thought the music was too loud too long - since we live next door but the beer was cold and the people fun. Hope you rebuild and come back strong!!! God bless.

As a tourist, I tend to listen to locals' suggestions. Good call here. The place was packed, but the service was good. Somebody already extolled the virtues of the fish tacos -- I concur. They were fabulous. Good cocktails and very good music. Nothing fancy, but well worth stopping.

This place is very relaxing, and has excellent fish tacos. The food is fresh and the prices are fair. They frequently have live bands, and the atmosphere is awesome. I'd highly recommend this place.

Seven friends traveled to Marathon from Boston over New Years week 2013-14. We had made a reservation for New Year's Eve dinner at Salty's in October. Shortly after we arrived in Marathon, we stopped by to check out the restaurant in person, only to find out they "lost" our reservation. Even worse, they were fully booked and could not accommodate us. We were forced to make alternate arrangements at the last minute, which was not easy for a party of eight.

After our New Year's Eve dinner elsewhere, we stopped by Salty's for drinks. Shortly after we ordered our drinks at the bar and sat down, a very gruff and intoxicated waitress came to our table. She yelled, "You guys better suck your drinks down in 5 minutes and get out - it's our New Year's Eve too." We were stunned. One of my friends told her very matter-of-factly that we had just ordered our drinks and sat down. She aggressively replied, "What? Do you want to argue with me? I'll punch you in the neck!" We were all quite speechless (even though this later became the tag-line for our trip).

My advice: avoid Salty's at all costs, and if you can, Marathon as well. There are better Keys with classier people.

This was a great place to have our fish from our morning fishing trip cooked. The blackened fish was the best of the three types of fish they cooked up. It was nice to sit by the water and eat. Very nice place to eat.
