The nature center really has one thing that sets it apart from the pack. And that is wild island backcountry. If you want to see what the Keys were like before all the resorts and restaurants, check this place out. Bring bug spray, though, since "wild" includes mosquitoes. The trails also give you access to a Wild Bird Center that has recovering injured birds. Pelicans, ospreys, a burrowing owl, and many more. A great place to learn and see some wildlife. If nothing else, it's a great rainy day activity.

I think it is important for visitors to understand that this location is not a zoo or theme park. If we had gone in imagining that it was we would have been disappointed. Crane point is a large area of preserved unspoiled natural environment which is incredibly rare in the keys today. It is also home to a bird refuge, where injured birds are taken in and cared for before being released if possible. We enjoyed our walk, saw lots of spiders, an Osprey's nest, butterflies and other assorted wildlife in its natural environment. We found the whole experience very interesting.A fabulous eco system exists here. The museum was small but informative as was the film we watched prior to our walk. Probably not the best option for those with younger children and or those looking for a thrill a minute. I get the impression that Crane Point is run by a very small group of dedicated people with little funding. We enjoyed our experience and feel sad that there is so little of the Key's like this left.

Nice place. . A lot of walking to see nothing but trees. Was a little disappointed we didn't see more.

I'm glad we were able to go through Crane Point. Great natural history and a nice stroll. We took the advice of the staff and did the museum after the hike with our 3 and 8 year old kids. We loved seeing the butterflies, iguanas and some gnarly (but harmless) spiders. I look forward to going back and hope to send more time there.

We photograph insects, so the large numbers of orb weaver spiders were a real treat for us. Variety of walking trails, historical building restorations, excellent museum of Natural History. Preserves remnant thatch palm hammock. Highly recommended for those seeking the natural side of the Keys.
