The park itself appears not particularly well kept. Even filthy at times. We went to see the bird refuge and all we found were few birds in cages in a poor state with limited explanations. Even from the point of the Park we saw little in terms of animals. However, there were hundreds of very interesting spiders of at least 3 species and some of them were very large. If you like spiders, a perfect place to visit!

My husband and I were disappointed with the lack of wildlife to see; but it was their "winter" so probably explained it. Only saw a turtle and racoon and two butterflies. Also, they didn't have their bird show and we didn't see many of them. Not high on my list to suggest to friends/family.

Your admission price goes toward preserving the property and restoring the Crane home on the property. Nice small museum- informative short movie. Cool air conditioning and restrooms. Snacks and gift shop. Bird watchers and photographers enjoy this spot. Spend an hour walking in the shady mangrove on your way to the tiny historic buildings and waterfront. I saw lots of butterflies. There is a bird center where sick or damaged birds are restored to health. All in all- I enjoyed a quiet hour and learned the history of the area. Support them!

At times, the “scenery” of the Florida Keys can resemble an endless strip mall. But scattered along the way are some real gems. The Crane Point Museum and Nature center can help you forget the endless urbanization and give you a glimpse of what the keys were like before they were developed.

The museum is worth your time. The introductory video is excellent. A walk on the trails through the Hammock is a real delight. The volunteers are enthusiastic and make you feel good about paying the admission. Set aside two to three hours to appreciate everything this gem has to offer. Enjoy!

Don't let the $12.50 entrance price scare you away! I visited this attraction with my girlfriend last weekend and we had a great time. Skip the museum/store until the end (the air conditioning is nice after walking trails), watch the informational video before you explore the park, and take every trail on the property as each is unique and offers something a bit different from the last. This would be a great location to take a family with kids because your chances of seeing butterflies, birds, crabs, and other wildlife is endless. Bring some sort of bug repellent (just in case), and/or wear a long sleeve shirt or pants. Something to drink while walking the trails is also refreshing. Enjoy this unique keys attraction :)
