Visited in March, 2013. The reviews I read prior to our trip sounded more interesting that the place turned out to be. None of the interactive displays or sea life exhibits were available. I understand maintenance and other issues which would temporarily close these exhibits but then I think the rather pricey admission fee should be adjusted as well. Considering what they are trying to do here, I did not mind the fee for adults. The history and eventually the refurbishing on the Crane home will be grand as is the view from the 'point'. The museum is quite nice and fun for children with their video stories and displays.

We spent 2-3 hours in the museum and walking the trails on the property. Very interesting and felt like we learned a lot about history of the keys. Great for all ages. Go early in the day before it gets too hot, we made the mistake of going around noon and it was pretty steamy walking the 1.6 miles of trails. There is a tram /golf cart to take with a guide if you don't want to walk.

Neat place to visit and important to maintain. Take water and use some bug spray. Bitten quite a few times.

A lovely piece of preserved wilderness in the middle of a busy area - a great place to get away. There is a trolley in the morning, so if a long walk is hard for you, make a reservation. The plants and wildlife are beautiful, the bird sanctuary very interesting, and the point a good place for a rest with a scenic view. Do take some time to visit - this is really Old Florida.
