We went out on the 2 hour guided kayak tour and it was worth the little bit more than you pay for a single. Our guide Andrew was explaining everything as we went along from the fish to the birds and the eco system in the mangroves. But the best or scary part was as we were returning with no warning what so ever our kayak was lifted up in the air with a huge splash up forward were my wife was, well we never saw her at first but we glided directly over a mother Manatee! wow was that scary, our kayak landed square back in the water, Andrew came right over to check on us then went to investigate what happened. great trip even with out that, will do it again next time we are down..

Only dive site that was going out today with questionable weather. They waited for me as I was a last minute joiner. Great education on the way to the reef, two dives, nurse shark, eels, green sea turtle, beautiful tropical fish and corals. Instructor and crew were accommodating, fun, and helpful. Would definitely dive with them again!

Did the 2 hour jet ski tour from the tarpon creek shop. Great fun and a really good way to see the coast.

It started out as a rainy afternoon, but once all the clouds parted, we were treated to an amazing snorkeling experience on the special protected area "SPA" of the reef a few miles from shore. The Captain and crew of The Jolly Roger were knowledgable and ensured our safety by strictly adhering to Coast Guard rules and roll calling from the manifest several times throughout the afternoon and especially upon leaving for shore. We had scuba divers on board as well which was interesting to see. I watched them swim below as I bobbed on the surface above the reef. Schools of brightly colored fish danced around my face as I fumbled with my waterproof disposable camera that seemed to run out of film before I had my best experiences. We are still waiting on the film to be developed to see if any photos turned out, but my boyfriend and I really enjoyed the entire experience.

To be up front and honest, we did not use Captain Hooks. We purchased two spots for an afternoon snorkel, but based on our interactions, we did not go. When we called, they were full for the afternoon ride and did not have enough for the morning trip. We signed up for the morning trip. Staff said they would call by 5pm to let us know if he AM trip was going out. Staff had not called by 4:45pm, so we called. E trip was not on, but they said we could go on the Afternoon trip. When we showed up, both the office staff and one of the boat crew we interacted with were not helpful. We were informed here was not a restroom on the boat. We were also informed there were jellyfish and we needed to wear a wetsuit, which of course they rent. Based on that and their I helpfulness, we decided not to take the trip. Later we stopped into Tildens and were informed the jellyfish was not a big deal and a wetsuit was not necessary. Captain Hooks is all about the money. For true customer service, go to Tildens.

Sometimes you get one of these reviews where there is no possible way you can win.

1. We line up our calls so we can make them all at one time…this couple happened to call just before we called them. This is not a lack of service, this is our procedures and we followed exactly what we said we were going to do, they just called us a bit earlier.

2. The other dive shop did not know the sites that we planned to dive and can not make a judgement on whether the site has jellyfish or not. They have not dived the same sites that we have recently. Jellyfish are not a big deal if you are the jellyfish (no brain, a simple animal, a floater) but if you are a human, those stings can hurt. We don’t make anyone rent a wetsuit, we only recommend.

3. The other dive shop has the exact same boat as we do. They have “no head” (bathroom) on their boat so I am not sure how they can add additional backside service there.

4. This customer obviously did not use the other dive shop mentioned either when they said that we are “all about the money.” This couple would have paid us a total of $75.25 for 3.5 to 4 hours on the ocean snorkeling two different reef sites with wetsuits and sales tax. Our snorkel trips are $25 per person. The other dive shop's snorkel trips are $60 per person. They would have paid them $129.00 for the same service that we provided but they would not have had any wetsuits and would possible be subjected to jellyfish stings and discomfort. To be fair to the other dive shop, I am using the advertised prices on their website for this information, I have no idea if they would have given this couple a discount or a special to beat our price or if their website has not been updated recently.

5. I believe we have some of the best reefs in the Keys here in Marathon for some of the best prices around with some of the best dive shops around as well. We are "not at all about the money" but we are "all about making sure you have a good time and enjoy your ocean adventure." If this couple would have used us they would have realized this and saved money as well.

We are sorry that you felt we were not helpful. We have talked to our staff to make sure we are not taking anything for granted. We did tell you before you were on the water that there was no head on this boat and we recommended a wetsuit when there was jellyfish in the water...you would have thanked us after the trip.

For anyone reading this reply, we have a dive boat with a head, both boats don't always go out however.
