I'll start by saying that the food here was so good that we ate here twice on our last vacation to the Keys.
Lazy Days South is located on Marathon Key on a little side road just before the 7 mile bridge. It has an indoor dining room as well as a large covered patio that overlooks the water and the sunsets if you have dinner there. The atmosphere is laid back, you can dress up or wear flip flops and shorts. The slowly turning ceiling fans and quiet background music relax you as soon as you get to your table. The food is outstanding! The seafood was super fresh and always tasty. Go with one of the dinner specials that change nightly and you will not be disappointed. Prices are a bit high but the portions are huge and the quality for value far outweighed the prices. I would say that the prices are no higher than nicer restaurants in Marathon. Each time that we ate here we had leftovers to take back to our rooms. The food was not the usual fried, broiled or blackened fare and showed a lot of imagination. Big props for the Oyster Rockefeller made with fresh spinach and cheeses. I had the best Hogfish that I had ever eaten, coated in panko crumbs and pan-fried and then covered with tomatoes, peppers and Parmesan. The Grouper that my husband ordered was covered in a vodka sauce style pepper sauce that was outstanding and the portions were huge. In Atlanta for the prices that we paid the portions would have been half or less. Service was perfect and attentive. You must try their Key Lime Pie which was light and perfect and was true to the original unlike some other places that want to put it on a chocolate crust or cover it with sauces.

Other than the Butterfly Cafe, this is the next best place to eat in Marathon, easy to get to, great sunset seating for dinner, really good food, the other restaurants are just OK, but try this place and be glad you did. In September it's hard to find some of the others along Overseas Highway even open, but the ones we did, Lazy Days looks good and is good.

We were lookiing for a restaurant to watch the sunset and were surprised to see gorgeous views on the oceanside at Lazydays South. While the service was a little slow, the delicious food more than made up for it. The mojitos are commendable as well. The food is fresh and prepared to perfection, but not showy or overpriced, This place is a keeper!

We didn't have high hopes after a poor experience at Sunset Grill around the corner. This place and Tranquility Bay would keep us coming back to Marathon. The view was beautiful, the staff was attentive and friendly, and the food was local and delicious. They could even "Pittsburgh" a steak which is a "rare" treat.

This place was recommended to us by a local. It is not visible from the street except for a big sign before you get on the 7mile bridge. It has a quaint old fashioned feel to it. We choose outside dining for the water view. Very quiet atmosphere. Felt like fine dining. Very prompt and attentive service. The prices are very reasonable. 3 at our table had the local special, each with different reactions. For $16, you got a large piece of chicken with a side and soup or salad and fresh assorted breads (even banana). Large selection of kids menu. Seldom does my son have steak as an option...with ice cream sundae too. My husband had "hog fish" served fresh any way you want it and continues to rave about it. This is a hidden gem.
