“Don't miss this one. It's delicious!”
Reviewed August 29, 2011

Recently had lunch at Lazy Days in Marathon. The food was out of this world. The mahi-mahi was great. Be sure to get it prepared "Lazy Days" style. Homemade potato salad was delicious. Will definitely return on my next Keys trip.

“only thing we enjoyed was the view”
Reviewed August 22, 2011

i enjoyed every single restaurant we went in the keys except this one.. the fish we ordered was overcooked, including the lobster... furthermore it was cooked in a heavy sauce and the last thing we could taste was the lobster. we ordered a crab dish and we could not find any crab... instead full of artichokes and leeks....Service pretty average. waiters overstressed. but the view and the sunset was amaaazing!

“Superb lunch service”
Reviewed August 19, 2011

Stopped for lunch while on the way to Key West. Wasn't too busy so we were allowed to sit anywhere. It is located rite on the water, but we opted to sit inside due to the 94 degree heat. The daily lunch suggestions are dated and printed every day. My philly cheese was delightful and had great fries. My wife and daughter wanted to share the Lazy Chicken entree. The extremely nice waiter had the cooks split the entree between two plates and supplied each with a roll, NOW THAT IS GOING ABOVE AND BEYOND. Finished the meal up with my first key lime mint, and those things are good.

“'Lot's of Potential'”
Reviewed August 13, 2011

After reading about Lazy Day's on the internet while planning our vacation to Hawk's Cay Resort, we decided this restaurant was a must see. My Family and I arrived at the restaurant on a Thursday evening around 6:00pm. Upon entering the property we were impressed with its location nestled in a marina with spectacular water views. Upon entering the restaurant we were greeted by a hostess (with not much of a smile for a ‘greeter’). We were politely asked if we wanted inside or outside dining. Our request for inside dining with a view was happily provided. Upon seating at our table you could tell the restaurant is popular with not only tourists like us, but many locals. We were welcomed to the restaurant by a friendly waitress who politely asked if it was our first time or if we have dined with them before. We were told of the daily specials and requested that we order for our youngest child as she was ‘starving’ our request was promptly attended to. The wait for the food was reasonable, although water re-fills were a bit slow; if you caught someone’s attention it was re-filled promptly. Our waitress was polite despite her busyness to find the time on several occasions to ask if everything was ok.

All in all I would rate the food ‘average’; my broiled seafood platter was a plentiful dish with any array of seafood. I did find the fish to be a bit overcooked. The shrimp and scallops were large and cooked to perfection. The lobster was cooked to perfection although I would have liked to have a lobster claw breaker as the shell on the warm water lobsters are somewhat spiny and difficult to grab. My wife enjoyed scallops cooked also to a perfect tenderness and prepared to her request. My son was astonished by the size of his chicken seafood platter which he wanted to offer the leftovers to the homeless. We reframed from desert as we were stuffed from the great bread and rolls and will reserve desert for hopefully will be another visit to the area. The price for the food is moderate and worth the value overall.

Suggestions to the management include; have your staff prepare tableware in the rear of the restaurant and not in view of arriving patrons, although the décor is in theme of its surroundings; a ‘fresh coat of paint’ would go a long way to improve the ambiance of the establishment, wait/bus staff can be dressed ‘casual’, however bus staff needs to lose the backward hats that make them look like 'gangsta's and lastly the gentlemen I assumed was the ‘manager’ as he was helpful in getting out tab processed promptly should be dressed a bit more ‘key casual’ as not to look like a kitchen worker.

Overall; I would recommend this restaurant for either a romantic dinner for two or with your family. The staff will make you feel like a ‘local’ and not like a tourist.
