Royal Hawaiian Motel / Botel

This incredible 8 room hotel/botel on Marathon, Florida is a must stay for all those looking for a reasonable, clean, & comfortable place to stay in the Florida Keys. Having stayed there numerous times, I can vouch for the rustic simplicity of the decor which only adds to the "laid back" attitude permeating this island. All the rooms are air-conditioned, have cable, & free Wi-Fi.,plus, many of the rooms also have a full kitchen for your convenience. For those of you who have a boat, all of the rooms have access to Vaca Key canal and have boat dockage. The patio, which can be used for socializing, grilling, or simply kicking back, has a cleaning station for your catch of the day! There is also a wonderful pool with a surrounding lounge area for those wishing to get a serious tan; it's heated in the winter as well. Rooms are cleaned and beds are made daily by the most amiable managers I have encountered in a long time, Laura & Phil. Besides, if you ever have need of a local guide or weather man, Phil's your man! He certainly keeps abreast of everything you could possibly need during your stay. Laura, can recommend the better beach areas too. So, get up, get down, and come to the RHB! It could certainly become your home away from home!

We have stayed at the Royal Hawaiian in the past and glad we made the choice to come back again. There are many great features of the Royal Hawaiian, Everything is always neat and kept very clean. Our room was great, we rented the kitchenette room which is great for us, we have a boat and like to come back and cook our catch. The kitchen if fully stocked- from a stove, refrigerator, pots/pans, coffee pot, coffee, sugar, creamer. IT IS VERY CLEAN--which if anyone has stayed in the Keys this is not always a common practice. They come in and give you fresh towels each day, remove your garbage. They have a great boat ramp, cleaning station for your fresh catch, BBQ grills.

Room Tip: All the rooms face the dock, you can walk out your sliding glass door and there is the dock.

My husband and myself are finishing a 10 day stay at the Royal Hawaiian Motel/Botel and have had a wonderful time. Phil and Laura are very nice and do all they can to make your stay enjoyable. The rooms are clean and we were given fresh towels everyday, we found the bed to very comfortable. There is sitting area for all the guests to mingle and BBQ grills for your use. The location is great for access to the ocean. Overall we have had a very good time here and would recommend this place to others. Nice place to relax and meet friendly people.

This is a "mom and pop" -type, laid-back place in the best tradition of the Keys. The owners pretty much left us alone, but appeared always to be readily available should we need anything. We didn't have a boat, but still appreciated seeing the other boats anchored right outside our door on the canal. We had a unit only equipped with a fridge and microwave; but that's all we needed. Overall, we found this facility to be very clean and well-maintained and centrally located. It was reasonably priced for the high season so we didn't have to pay for a lot of extras we would never use. The pool was big enough for the size of the motel, although not being heated, it was a bit chilly. We also were able to park right outside our door. The bed sheets are not changed daily, but the towels are and that's o.k. because it probably saved us some money. We did think, however, that that towels could have been larger and somewhat thicker. This is a good choice if you want to be able to see the Keys without spending a small fortune as you might in Key West.

This is a small friendly traditional style motel situated on the main road running through Marathon, a convenient central location for visiting the Keys.We stayed in a standard room which was clean and comfortable with fridge and microwave. The rooms back directly onto the a deck where boats can be moored by hotel guests, and was far enough away from the road to be quiet. The pool looked inviting but was too cool for us to try it. The excellent Fish Tales restaurant is a short walk over the bridge

Lara and Phil are the coolest people you can imagine to stay at! You can ALWAYS ask them for help. They are so attentive - Phil even asked us if we needed the pool lights on when it was getting late and dark and we were stll hanging out at the pool. Other places would probably tell you to leave the pool, but with Lara and Phil everything is very user friendly and they totally make you feel that you `re on holidays! Everything is clean and pretty. The rooms come with a kitchen or at least with a coffee maker and a fridge. There is TV and Wifi and you can find everything you need and if you`re lucky you can even watch the manatees from your porch. We were there already for the 2nd time and if we go back to the keys we`ll stay there again. I can only recommend it!

Room Tip: If you like to cook take the room with the kitchenette, but if you go out to restaurants you don`t r...

This is a botel. Your back porch is right on the water, so you can tie your boat up 4 ft from your room. Phil and Lara are the owners and they live onsite. The place is so clean you can eat off the floor. They treat you like family and cater to any of your needs. The rooms are well equipped and super comfy. The grounds and pool are immaculate. If you have a question about where to go or how to find something you need in the area. No worries, just ask these guys they are always ready to help. This is the best place to stay in all of Florida and these are the most honest people I've met while on vacation. The free wi-fi worked well and the tv's are new flat screen high def. with lots of channels. They are able to keep prices reasonable because they do all the work from cleaning the rooms to maintenance. You will NOT find a better place to stay for your $$. No complaints! I felt like I was part of their family our whole stay. Oh, I can't forget to tell you to love on "kitty" their cat that visits you every morning and gives you lots of love.

Room Tip: There is not a bad room, but rooms 6, 7, and 8 are near the pool and picnic area for convenience. Do...
