We just returned from a wonderful Christmas/New Years week in Islamorada. This condo is nicely renovated, great location to everything and had everything we needed. We had a great time touring the Keys. We took two day trips. Bahia Honda State ( 1 hour away) and Key West (2 Hours away). The other days we spent enjoying the heated pool and fishing in the Marina. My boys were in angler heaven! The daily visits from the mama and baby manatee were so much fun! Every night we spent watching the amazing sunset right at the marina. The condo was perfect for our family of 5. My three sons each had their own bed with the bunkbeds and trundle bed. It was nice that they had their own bathroom right in their room too. The King size bed in the master bed room was so comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you need to make your fresh fish dinner! There are several charcoal grills around the property. We went to the Winn-Dixie (2 miles north)for all of our needs. Everything was very clean and well kept. We were glad to have the small washer and dryer in the unit to do small daily loads of laundry. There were plenty of bath towels, sheets, blankets and pillows. We only brought our beach towels for the pool. Mark was very attentive and helpful with many recommendations. He was even kind enough to call around to find out what was open for dinner on Christmas Day. He told us great restaurants to check out (Tuna Nachos are a must have at Islander Grill) and other places to rent bikes, boats and paddle boards. He checked in a few times durning our stay and was always available if we had questions. It was hard to leave the great weather to go back to the winter weather of the north but we will be back!
We were a group of five - four adults and one child (toddler). From the beginning, we knew we wanted a place that could feel like our home away from home. The condo is very much like the photos online, newly updated with comfortable and tasteful furnishings and decor. The kitchen was exceptionally equipped, including a dishwasher, lots of dinnerware, silverware, glassware, pots/pans, cooking utensils, and coffee maker that could do both a pot of coffee or k-cups. We were able to easily cook our breakfasts there before beginning our daily excursions and weren't in needed of anything but our groceries. And in the evenings, the bar area made a nice place for us to unwind with snacks and drinks. We've stayed in a lot of rentals and this was by far the best kitchens we've ever had to use.
The condo is on the 5th floor so you have a great views of the building grounds and gulf side of Islamorada without being right at street-level noise. The balcony is small but perfect for a couple to sit outside (bar height chairs) and watch the sunset.
Beds were comfortable (king in the master) and the bunk-bed/trundle is where we stayed with our 2-year old son, while snug, but worked well for us. Lots of drawer space in both bedrooms for clothes and plenty of hangers in the master closet too. Both baths are smaller per the condo size but are newly tiled/updated and have great showers.
In the condo, Mark has thought of everything. There are ceiling fans in the master and living areas that keep the air moving and the space comfortable. There's a smaller washer/dryer unit for freshening up clothes and towels, a collapsible drying rack to hang swimwear and wet towels, brooms and other cleaning tools for tidying up, extra pillows, blankets, etc. Cable TVs in both bedrooms, with a large TV in the living room that you can access the Internet and Netflix on (if you have an account). My husband and father enjoyed the NCAA tournament while my mother and I watched a movie.
Mark (the owner) was quick and responsive to our questions about how to access the Internet. When our a/c started acting up last day he promptly called in a serviceman and it was fixed within hours.
Probably our favorite feature of the property was the pool. It's generously sized, newly re-done and heated with lots of sun-loungers, tables, chairs and umbrellas on the surrounding deck. There's showers and bathrooms in the "club house" right there. Every evening we went down for a swim in the pool and it was heaven after our long days of exploring the islands.
A bonus: With proof of your rental agreement you are entitled to use Founders Park just down the road from the condo complex. Normally the fee is $10 per adult but it's free to island residents, including renters. We went there a few times for its large sandy beach, Easter Egg hunt and splash pad.
