Got a deal on Jetsetter and thought we'd give it a try for a weekend away and we loved it. The first thing we -- and assuming everyone else -- will notice is the amazingly friendly and attentive staff which starts with Earl at the guard house on the way into the property. Everyone was really nice on the staff, but he and the valet team stand out.

We stayed in the main lodge in one of the large rooms overlooking the beach area and it was excellent. It was a big room with an awesome bathroom, including a huge shower with a regular shower, hand-held and rain and a big sliding door that opens up to an outdoor tub that's really cool. Nice towels, nice products...it's all good.

Food and wine were both outstanding although a bit more expensive than you might originally anticipate. We had a few glasses of wine at the pool that were not very large and weighed in at a whopping $16/glass, so at this price point it may not be for everyone. There are, however, many affordable bars and restaurants very nearby so you can mix-and-match if you want, which is what we did.

The spa is nice as was the massage I had. The adjacent adults-only pool is also nice if you're not wanting to be around the seemingly endless supply of children. The main pool is okay but a lot of children and very large families with more than a few people eating food at the edge of the pool while actually in the water (this was kind of disgusting to me as crumbs fell into the pool and people just rinsed their hands in the pool water...management might want to re-think that policy). Pool staff at both pools was the least attentive of anywhere but not wholly missing-in-action.

All-in-all it's a great resort and we're looking forward to going back in the near future. Would definitely recommend it for a weekend or few day getaway...not sure it's a week-long kind of place, but that may just be us.

Room Tip: If it's for a romantic weekend, get an ocean-view in the main lodge...the showers alone are wort...

Thank you for your amazing review! We appreciate your commendations about our staff, our accommodations, the spa and the adults-only pool. All good! We are glad you found our food and beverage to be outstanding – we feel our menu prices are right in line with other restaurants of our caliber. You are absolutely correct; Islamorada has a wealth of great dining establishments nearby.
Thank you for your wonderful recommendation, and we look forward to welcoming you back for your next visit – for a week or a weekend!

I booked a 4 day girls trip and was very disappointed! Service was extremely poor, room was flat and faded and there was no bar service at the adult pool! In no rush to go back. The overall experience was not at all 5 star like you'd expect not to mention the cost.

Overall this place was great, and I would return here. The grounds were beautiful and we enjoyed the beach/pool/kayaking/and various sitting areas we found. We were there during the off season, and I thought the room, although nice and comfortable, was a little lacking for the price. They should really re-do the walk in area to the room (looked Motel 6ish) - it was just a little bizarre for a 300/night room. Also, there is a 40 per room resort fee I had not seen mentioned when we booked. Based on prices I saw for other Islamorada properties though, I think this is a good option for the area.

The location was fantastic. Great beaches. Great services. Very nice view. But the parking lot, golf area, tennis area are overwhelmed with the sewage dump from the Lodge. It really smells like "liquid butt"
Be careful.

I'd like to second the last review and say that I've just returned from this resort and expected better. My family of four are well traveled and expected better room accomadations. We booked a golf view suite. The sleeper sofa was so uncomfortable that my 7 year old simply refused to sleep on it. Sadly after two attempts of changing out the mattress, it was okay but still not acceptable for the price we paid for the suite. This property has alot of potential, but for now the only perks are the complimentary starbucks in the lobby and fishing.

We appreciate your feedback, and are very sorry about the problems you had with your sofa sleeper. We are happy to report that we have ordered brand new memory foam mattresses for our sofa sleepers, so they will be much more comfortable. It was nice to hear that Cheeca has a lot of potential, but we always want to ensure that we meet and exceed all of our guests’ expectations. We invite you to come back again so we can achieve that goal with you.

I am very picky about places that I stay. This is a 5 star resort! Clean, excellent service and friendly staff. We will continue to stay here in the future. The only con I would say is that the on site restaurants are a little overpriced but they are clean and the food is really good.

After visiting the keys more times that you could count I finally decided to visit this place and I'm very glad I did. The trip was made with two teenagers and two pre teens and Cheeca is perfect for families. The keys have no beaches in the traditional sense, you have sort of a wild, mushy bottom but you can kayak out to sandy bottoms. The grounds of the resort are lush and very well kept, the place was full but it didn't seem that way. The food in the resort was very good, not cheap, but it was good. Service was excellent. I want to point out Christine, manager at the main restaurant who helped us out one morning..went well and beyond the call of duty..and JJ..awesome service!

We are so happy you chose Cheeca for your family vacation. Thank you for your praise of our tropical gardens, our service and food. Kudos to Christine and J.J. for delivering awesome service! As you pointed out, Cheeca’s beach is typical of any beach in the Florida Keys, which are a string of tiny islands comprised of coral rock. The only living coral reef in the continental U.S. is located just off our shores. The reef is surrounded by crystal clear waters and creates spectacular fishing, snorkeling and diving adventures, but it also prevents surf-like waves from reaching our shores.
Thanks for writing, and please come back and stay with us again soon.
