When we arrived we were greeted by Earl at the front gate. He was so inviting and I think he is the perfect person to have greeting the newly arrived guests. However, we arrived to a room that was in less than satisfactory condition only te be transferred to another room which was not much better. The management was proactive and offered us a newer and better-maintained room in the main hotel the next day. We were embarassed to have to complain but the resort had come highly recommend to us and we had been looking forward to this trip for quite some time.
We enjoyed kayaking, golfing, and riding bikes (all included in resort fee). However, we are very active and were disappointed that the fitness center and adult lap pool were closed. We had called on Friday to ensure these amenities would be available but when we arrived on Sunday we learned that the pool and fitness center would be closed for repairs.
We dined at Atlantic's Edge for breakfast two of the days we were there. Meal was great.
Dinner was fabulous at Limoncello. We ate sushi from sushi bar (inside Limoncello) and enjoyed your dinner outside. Our server, Jacque did a fabulous job. She is a great asset to their food and beverage dept.
We had a snack at the tiki bar one night while watching football. I kind of felt bad for the bartender though...while he was trying to take our order a server from one of the restaurants came up behind him, interrupted us and proclaimed "I need to vent". This was not really appropriate and kind of rude since he was in the middle of taking our order. Perhaps she can call the employee assistance program for some help in lieu of expressing her unhappiness with her job in front of paying guests.
The family pool was enjoyable with music and a beautiful view of the ocean.
Overall, we are pleased with our trip and will probably come back next summer or fall.

Room Tip: Make sure you are in a room that has been maintained. Some of the rooms with lagoon and golf views a...

This resort is nice in the same way that vanilla ice cream is nice on a hot day. It's good but a generic choice, and you would do better with a more interesting choice. Certainly the place feels a bit dated and in need of a re-fresh. Don't get me wrong, the service and facilities are fine, just nothing to write home about. It just all felt a bit "resort generic". Which is too bad because the lush vegetation and landscaping are nice, the location is terrific, and the people who work there are happy to serve. But the whole thing just kind of felt "meh".

Wife and I came for a four day fall stay. I fished. My wife use the pool and facilities. It was fantastic. Great food. Spectacular facilities... especially the oceanview rooms with balcony tub. The facilities are 5-star. The service was great... not 5-star (Four Seasons, Mandarin, etc) but extremely good. Will definitely come back.

Room Tip: Stay in the main lodge... ocean view recommended.

My wife & I spent then night of our wedding at Cheeca Lodge & Spa. The room was amazing and although our time there was short (we were heading out for our honeymoon the next day), the time at Cheeca was perfect. We'll definitely be back. We stayed at a lot of places in the Upper & Mid Keys... Cheeca is the best high-end stay and worth the price.

Staff not polite. Upon check in at 3 pm the room was not ready, I gave them my phone number to call me when the room was ready. Three hours later I checked back with the front desk, the attendant replied " oh your room was ready hours ago", they omitted a number and did not appologize for their mistake.
The grounds were lush with beautiful tropical plants. I noticed sand and hair on my sheets, I called housekeeping came to change the linen, threw the pillows on the floor, changed the sheets and put the same pillow on the bed without changing the pillow cases. Beach was below agerage. Resturant staff not polite, food selection was average.
Rooms were decorated beautifully.

Let's start off by stating that I got this on a Groupon. We paid $325 per night on an ocean front room in the main building that usually costs over $1000 per night during the high season. Resort fee ($39) per day, tax and tags were an additional $42 per day which you must pay. Resort fees cover the free DVD's (great selections), bicycles (about 15) total, a couple kayaks, beach chairs, some fishing poles and maybe a couple small items that you will hardly get a chance to get your hands on because there is not enough for everyone and the Cheeca strongly explains that these items are on a first come, first serve. Now, since this is a 'resort', you would expect to stay here for the entire duration and not leave for anything. Not the case unless you want to spend an exorbitant amount of money in miserable drinks and mediocre food that is served in the restaurants and bar. I have not complaints about the staff, as they were very attentive on our days. I have found that the staff changes during the week and have heard of complaints of the weekday staff. On Saturday, we were met with champagne upon arrival. Today (Monday) those that were checking in were not even offered water. This is definitely not a 5 star hotel. The rooms in the main building are immpecible, especially the ocean view rooms in the main building. Especially the bathtubs located on the balcony! The main building is also a visual delight. Again, the downside are the restaurants with the $50 steaks and the $15 mixed drinks in plastic cups that are slighty tastier than gasoline. You can get way more for your money at the Ritz Carlton on South Beach. This place can do alot more than what is being done. What about a breakfast buffet included in the price? If you are a world traveler, who has frequented true 5 stars, you will understand why this does not meet standards. Not even close! Would love to spend the money, if it were worth it. Sorry, Cheeca...

Room Tip: If you don't mind spending top dollar, the ocean front rooms located in the main building.

We love Cheeca and visit there at least twice a year. The minute we pull into the long driveway we feel pampered and relaxed. Brett checked us in and was very nice. We always stay in the main building overlooking the ocean. The rooms are gorgeous. The view of the ocean and pier is very nice. We love using the kayaks and also go on snorkeling trips. We enjoy having lunch outside by the patio.
