Owner description: The Museum is dedicated to collecting, preserving, displaying, and interpreting artifacts, antiques, books, documents, photographs, and oral history relative to the History of Diving. We tell the international story of man's attempts to explore, understand, and venture under the sea. We also celebrate the special role that South Florida and the Florida Keys played in this story. The Florida Keys History of Diving Museum is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational institution focused on the Story of Man's Quest to Explore Under the Sea. The majority of the Museum's artifacts have been provided through the generous support of its founders, Drs. Joe and Sally Bauer, who hold one of the largest collection of historic diving equipment and research documents in the world.

“Fun Stop”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2013

We had a rainy morning when we were in the Keys and decided to stop in at the diving museum. We are a family of 4 with 2 boys ages 5 and 9. We really enjoyed it. My oldest son requested it and we didn't know what to expect so it was a pleasant surprise. Some of the information was to much for my youngest son to grasp but there was still plenty for him to see and touch. It is a self-guided tour so the parts that were able to move along at a pace to keep everyone entertained and informed.

My husband loved it! Lot's of neat pictures and information. The kids liked it too, but it didn't keep their attention for too long. Worth stopping in for sure!

“Good stuff!”

Really good information and displays. Get the $2.00 off discount coupon from the Islamorada Visitor Center. Our daughter really enjoyed the Savanger Hunt given to her at the front desk and it gave us more time to look at the displays.

My husband is a diver, but I am not and I really enjoyed this place. I had no idea that underwater exporation goes so far back. The collection is huge. My kids enjoyed it also.
